Thursday night | Veterans 1 | Final: 5–16

The score doesn’t tell the story.

These boys left everything they had on that field. They swung it with purpose. They were sharper and more disciplined defensively. And the growth we’ve been grinding for in practice is starting to show up when it counts.
Last night we got two of our pitchers on the mound who hadn’t had a live-game opportunity yet. That’s the work. Arm care. Mechanics. Competing with the ball in their hand. They threw strikes — and that’s exactly what we want at this age. When you throw strikes, the other team is going to put the ball in play. Location and command come next. That’s development.
Baserunning took a real step forward. And the moment that said who this team is becoming: one of our pitchers got frustrated, and the whole team came to the mound on their own. No coach called it. They huddled around their brother, settled him down, and got out of the inning together.
That’s the culture we’re building. Not a scoreboard. A group of young men who compete, support each other, and leave the field better than they arrived.
Proud of these boys. Every single one of them.

September 11, 2001

25 years.

We remember the lives lost. The families who never got another ordinary Friday. The first responders who ran in. The people on those planes who fought back.
This team is about more than baseball. We talk to our boys about heart, class, and looking out for each other. That starts with not forgetting what this country has been through, and who paid for the life we get to live.
Hug your kids. Thank a firefighter. Thank a cop. Thank someone who served.

Gloves lined up. Not thrown. Not piled. Lined up.
That’s how we teach it here.
Discipline isn’t just about how they play the game. It’s about how they treat their equipment, how they handle the small stuff when nobody’s watching, and whether they take care of what they’ve been given.
We spend time on stretching and arm health because we care about their bodies. We spend time on this because we care about the habits they’re building.
A glove that’s taken care of lasts. A player who learns to take care of his stuff lasts too.
This is Rocky Top Ruckus. We don’t skip the details.

This is what going the extra mile looks like.
Before the work even starts, the boys are lined up doing it the right way — stretching, moving, getting loose, and taking care of those arms. That’s not extra. That’s the standard.
Huge shoutout to Jenelle for leading the session and making sure every kid is doing it correctly. That’s the kind of leadership that keeps players healthy, confident, and on the field all season.
