5/15/26 - HENDERSON COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL SEASON SALUTE
Unexpected schedule changes allowed us to take a handful of athletes to this meet on Friday. 6 girls & 7 boys competed in just 15 events – & did FANTASTIC! TWELVE 1st place finishes! THREE 2nd place finishes! SEVEN new (significant!) PR’s! SEVEN new Top Ten additions - a new STATE QUALIFIER – & NEW SCHOOL RECORD!

JORDAN GISH shattered the record she had just set 9 days prior at the City meet, by 33 seconds – WINNING the race and QUALIFYING FOR STATE!
KNOX BREWER – our TRIPLE THREAT in the throws – WON ALL 3 throwing events!

We had a 1-2 finish in the GIRLS 400 (HARPER BRIDWELL & AVERY MACKEY) as well as 1st place finishes from CARSON TAYLOR – 100M & 300 hurdles; GRANT DAVIS – 800M & Long Jump; JYE MATHEWS – 400M; CAMDEN BINGHAM – 3200; and JULIET NUNN – Shot Put.

Devils Den - Owensboro 5/12/26
Our Boys and Girls placed 4th out of 8 teams, in this highly competitive meet. We arrived late, had very little warm-up time, and it just felt a little chaotic and like we were a bit off our game from there. We knew it wasn’t our best showing and there were some athletes that were disappointed in their performances. However, this is how we learn. We reminded our team that every race won’t be their best, even pro basketball players sometimes shoot airballs, and that we need to find a balance between giving ourselves grace – learning from subpar performances – and using disappointment & frustration to continue to drive us!
Still, despite an overall feel of not being at our best - at the end of the day, we were surprised at the number of PR’s (24!) that were logged – as well as 14 new Top Ten additions – including new SCHOOL RECORDS!

CAMDEN BINGHAM logged a record time in the 3200 for the 3rd time this season, setting a new school record AGAIN!
Our GIRLS 4X800 team of HARPER BRIDWELL, GRACE LAWSON, JORDAN GISH, and RUTH LAWSON also set a new record for the 2nd time this season!
AND... JULIET NUNN tied the school record in Shot Put!

FIRST PLACE finishers:
CARSON TAYLOR won the 300 meter hurdles, remaining UNDEFEATED for the season!
SAVANNAH LEHMAN won Turbo Jav and threw a PR!

We got 2nd PLACE FINISHES from: our BOYS 4x800 team of JYE MATHEWS, CAMDEN BINGHAM, ELI STALLINGS, and TYRONE MURPHY; JULIET NUNN in both the Discus and Shot Put; GRANT DAVIS in both the Long Jump and the 800 meter; CAMDEN BINGHAM in the 3200; and TYRONE MURPHY in the Triple Jump.

Adding 3rd PLACE MARKS: JORDAN GISH in the 1600; TYRONE MURPHY in the 400; RUTH LAWSON in the 800; HAVEN MILLER and RUTH LAWSON who tied for 3rd in the High Jump, KNOX BREWER in Discus, and the BOYS 4x400 team of JYE MATHEWS, TYRONE MURPHY, CARSON TAYLOR, and GRANT DAVIS.

SMS BOYS and GIRLS – 2026 CITY CHAMPIONS!
29 1st place finishes! 53 new PR’s! 14 new Top Ten’s! ANOTHER STATE QUALIFIER... and 2 MORE SCHOOL RECORDS!!
GRANT DAVIS had wins in the 400M, 200M, the Long Jump and 4x100 - and was awarded Boys MVP!

CONGRATS to new STATE QUALIFIER – SAVANNAH LEHMAN who won Turbo Jav and qualified for State the very first time ever competing in the event!

JORDAN GISH set a new SCHOOL RECORD in the 3200, winning both it AND the 1600 - she was also on the 4x800 winning team and placed 2nd in Triple Jump!

RUTH LAWSON set a new SCHOOL RECORD, winning the 800, as well as the long jump, was on the girls 4x400 team that had the 6th best time in school history, as well as placing 2nd in the 100 hurdles!

We had SEVERAL athletes with multiple wins:
• JYE MATHEWS – 1st in High Jump & was on the 4x8, 4x1, AND 4x4 winning relay teams
• KNOX BREWER – TRIPLE WINNER in all 3 throws – Shot put, Discus, AND Turbo Jav
• CAMDEN BINGHAM – 1st in 1600, 3200, & on the winning 4x8 team
• CARSON TAYLOR – 1st in 100M, 300 hurdles, & 4x100 team + 2nd in the 200M
• TYRONE MURPHY – 1st in 100 hurdles, 4x1 & 4x4 + 2nd in the 400M
• HARPER BRIDWELL – 1st in 400M, 4x8 & 4x4 teams + 2nd in the 200M
• KHIAN MARIGNY – 1st in Triple Jump, 4x8 & 4x4 teams + 2nd in the 800
• ELI STALLINGS – 1st in 800 & 4x8; 2nd in the 1600, 4th in Long Jump
• JULIET NUNN – 1st in both Shot Put & Discus; 3rd in Turbo Jav
• HAVEN MILLER – 1st in High Jump & 4x800 + 3rd in the 400M
• AVERY BINGHAM - 1st in Elem 400

Our GIRLS 4X200 team (Thea, Avery M, McKinley, Maliah) that placed 1st & the GIRLS 4X100 team (Thea, Avery M, McKinley, Penny) that placed 2nd, both ran Season PR’s – and our BOYS 4x100 team (Jye, Tyrone, Carson T, Grant) BARELY missed qualifying for state (by .09!!) – and earned a 6th place spot on our Top Ten list while our GIRLS 4X400 team (Ruth, Avery M, Grace, Harper) also ran the 6th fastest time in school history!

SWEEPS:
• SMS girls took the top 4 spots in the 400 meter dash (Harper, Grace, Haven, & Penny)
• SMS girls took the top 4 spots in Turbo Jav (Savannah, Peyton, Juliet, & Maddie)
• SMS boys took the top 4 spots in Triple Jump (Khian, Axton, Kamryn, & Gerarod)
• SMS girls took the top 3 spots in Long Jump (Ruth, McKinley, Penny)
• SMS boys took the top 3 spots in Turbo Jav (Knox, Lucas, Xavier)

1-2 FINISHES:
• BOYS 1600 – Camden & Eli
• BOYS 400 - Grant & Tyrone
• GIRLS 800 – Ruth & Avery M
• BOYS 800 – Eli & Khian
