I haven't posted with Angus lately but he is still the best babycake!

This is two minutes (actually more like 1.5) after I got on him for the first time in a month. He saw a tarp that had not been in the arena and was a little startled by it, but he approached it and even walked over it on the first attempt! So proud of this little muffin ❤

Amy here! I thought that since Angus is back with Heart of Phoenix and still working with Emma there while she attends University nearby that maybe I should start posting some of *my* horse adventures in case anyone still wants to see what's happening in North Central WV at our little CzarHaus. A couple of weeks ago I tried riding my RMHA mare VBF Queen for a Day (Blondie to us) bridleless using a little rig Emma set up for me. I did it solely because she was leaving for college and went to this effort and obviously wanted to share something she loved with me. Well, gosh, I LOVED it. Only rode in the round pen like a coward, but it was a start.

Emma told me that Ivy (our adopted girl from Heart of Phoenix) rides very well bridleless, so I decided to give riding her a shot a couple of nights ago. I can say that nobody was hurt in this trial, but it was not the beautiful experience riding Blondie was!!! So, back to working with Ivy to create a better connection with her before we try THAT again. She was very forward and jiggly and did not want anything to do with the idea of moving anywhere *I* wanted to. Crashing into the panels of the pen may have been involved...

I've always liked to ride bitless, but after a trail ride with the ATFO after which I complained that the bitless bridle I used for Ivy was not doing well for her because it was failing to release pressure on her jaw when I released the reins, Emma suggested something different. She got out her rubber mullen mouth bit and, wow, what a different ride that was with Ivy. So, so soft. Just barely touched the rein and she turned. It gave us true connection without so much pressure. I ordered a bit just for Ivy and hope to try it out very soon. Stay tuned to see how that goes for us!

Howdy folks! Well, today was the last day. Dan Sullivan trimmed Angus' feet for us before he heads for the ATFO. It's been a great summer watching Emma Karnes and work together. Thank you to all of you who have watched their journey, commented, clicked like, love, whatever, shared our posts, and supported us in every way. I want to thank our sponsors, in particular:

Getchu someone who looks at you like I look at 😂

We didn't get footage for Angus this week because I chose to withdraw him from what I had intended to film over some mild stomach issues (in him). He's recovered now, but a slight change in feed had caused more of an effect than we anticipated!

is a seven-year-old 14.1hh Mustang (623007) who is very friendly and gentle. He loves people and greets everyone who walks by at the fence, though he is a little more wary of those whom he has not already met. He stands calmly for all grooming, washing, fly spraying, tying, etc., even when in an obviously uncomfortable situation (such as a mare setting back on her lead and panicking in the trailer next to him). He is an air fern and loves food like any pony – a lot.

Angus enjoys trail rides, will practically take himself on them (no turning around or trying to dodge for home), can ride alone, lead or follow others, and maintains the same steady gait both coming and going. He moves his hindquarters and forehand very easily and would be suitable for low- to mid-level dressage or reining. He does not enjoy jumping as he is not built for it at all (think Haflinger) but has jumped 1’10” and can do it occasionally if necessary.

In an arena with a trainer, Angus could be ridden by anyone since he stops completely off natural aids and turns on a touch. However, he feeds off his handler’s emotions, so if you are confident, he is confident and if you are nervous, he is nervous. For this reason, he would be best suited to a confident intermediate rider. He would fit better into a gelding home, as he tends to get a little rougher with mares.

Angus and I had a great ride today. His canter is getting so much nicer lately and his hooves are amazing (A+ Mustang hooves if you ask our farrier)!

This is a clip of Angus from week seven (a few weeks ago)! This was remarkable progress for him as the first time he was touched behind the saddle while being ridden, he got very afraid. He has made such great strides towards being less reactive!

Angus did great these past two weeks! We really love having him ❤

This is definitely joking clickbait, Angus would never bite anyone but his kissing was so cute, I had to include it! Adoption application:https://www.emailme...
