This evening, we recieved the following message from Pete German:

Today, I officially stepped away and will not be returning as the Lakewood Head Football Coach for the 2026 season. This mutual decision has nothing to do with any of my athletes.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a small part of each athlete’s journey. Watching them grow into stronger athletes and even better people has been an honor. I wish the players and the program nothing but continued success moving forward.

Most importantly, check in on your neighbors and fellow Lancers, especially anyone who might need an extra hand. Let’s take care of each other! Wishing all of our Lancers a Happy Thanksgiving and a restful break spent with the people who mean the most to you.

I am truly thankful for each and every one of you. This past year has been filled with hard work, growth, and unforgettable moments, and the bonds we’ve built together mean more than I can ever express. Watching you show up for one another on and off the field has been one of the greatest privileges.

I’m grateful for this team, this family, and the memories we’ve created. And I look forward to the many more moments, lessons, and lifelong bonds still ahead.

Your support means the world to us and helps our athletes represent with pride and unity.

With the help of Creative Catering and Lakewood Little League Football we were able to sell cookies benefiting not only our football program, but also gift several hundred dollars to the Lancer Locker. 💙

The Lancer Locker provides food and essentials for our high school students who may be in need, and we are truly honored to give back to a community that continues to give so much to us.

Last night we celebrated our end-of-year banquet, and we couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of our players. This group has shown up in every way we asked — from early morning Saturday practices and long weight room sessions to stepping into new positions and pushing through the tough moments.

The character, heart, and determination they displayed on and off the field are what truly matter most. Over the past few months, I’ve had the absolute honor of getting to know these players, and I’ve come to truly love and respect them all. I can’t wait to get back together in January to start lifting and preparing for next season — because we’re only getting better from here.

A special shoutout to our seniors — thank you for leading with honor, determination, and heart. You’ve been incredible teammates and role models. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll do next. You’ll always have a home with us.

Don’t forget when you’re coming out to support your biddy footballer to stop and get your Battle at the Lake spirit wear, hot chocolate and some cookies! The cookies support not only our high school football team but also half of our proceeds will be donated to the high school Lancer Locker. Lancer locker provides food for our high school students when they may need some!
