✅ Swimmers must be able to swim two lengths of the pool without stopping — any stroke counts!

Water Safety Wednesday!
Tip #7: Avoid horseplay in or near the water.

Pushing, grabbing, dunking or jumping on someone in the water might seem like fun, but it can be scary, dangerous, and even life-threatening—especially if they panic or aren’t expecting it.

😨 Not everyone feels confident in the water, and rough play can quickly lead to distress or injury.
✅ Keep the water fun and safe for everyone.

Tip #6: Check the weather - here and where it’s headed.

It might be sunny at the lake, but storms can roll in fast from nearby areas.

🌬️ Strong winds, lightning, or even distant storms can make the water unsafe in minutes.

✅ Before you swim, paddle, or boat:
📱 Check the full forecast—not just your current location.
🌩️ If you hear thunder or see lightning, get out of the water immediately.

Panthers plan ahead—know before you go. 🐾

Tip #5: Always swim with a buddy.

Never swim alone. Ever. Even the strongest swimmers can run into trouble—cramps, fatigue, unexpected weather, or medical emergencies. Having a buddy means someone is there to call for help or assist in an emergency.

✅ Swim smart. Swim together.
🏊‍♂️ Whether it's a pool, lake, or river—a buddy could be the difference between a close call and a tragedy.

Panthers look out for Panthers. Don’t go solo. 🐾

Water Safety Wednesday! 🌊
Tip #4: Stay within designated swim zones.

Swim smart: Stay within the lines. Designated zones are the safest place to swim—for you, your friends, and your family. They’re checked for safety, monitored more closely, and on the lake free from boat traffic.

👀 Venturing outside the boundaries puts you at risk.
🏖️ If there are ropes, buoys, or signs—they’re there to protect you. Respect them.

Know your limits. Respect the markers. Stay safe, Panthers! 🐾

Water Safety Wednesday! 🌊
Tip #3: Stay hydrated—heat and sun dehydrate you fast.

Just because you're surrounded by water doesn’t mean you're staying hydrated! Swimming, sun, and summer heat can lead to dehydration faster than you think—even when you're in the water.

💧 Drink plenty of water before, during, and after water activities.
☀️ Headaches, cramps, and fatigue are signs you may need to take a break and hydrate.

Pack the sunscreen, pack the snacks—and don’t forget the water!

Whether you’re boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, or just out on the lake, wearing a properly fitted life jacket can save your life. Even strong swimmers can be caught off guard by wind, waves, or other watercrafts.

🦺 Accidents happen fast—and you may not have time to grab a vest.
💡 The best life jacket is the one you’re already wearing.

Tip #1: Bright colors save lives!

When choosing a swimsuit for you or your child, skip the blues and grays—opt for neon orange, pink, lime green, or yellow. Bright colors stand out in both pools and natural water, making it easier to spot a swimmer in distress.

👀 Lifeguards and parents can react faster when they can see clearly.

🎨 The brighter, the safer.
🛟 The goal is always visibility + vigilance.

Big shoutout to the Heber Springs Girls Swim Team in their amazing performance at the 4A-1A State Championship Meet 🎉🏊🏻‍♀️

They gave it their all and we couldn't be more excited for them! 💪👏 The Girls 400 Freestyle Relay medaled, finishing in 5th place! Overall, they placed 8th out of 17 teams – we are so proud!

Your hard work and dedication have truly paid off. Keep shining, ladies!
