Here is our interview from Worlds with Tyler from Fun RECF. What a milestone to be interviewed about our robot from a guy we have watched for years and learned so much from!

Make plans to join us tomorrow to celebrate our Headland RAM Robotics students at their “end of year showcase” at the Steve Williams Arena at HHS. They will have their robots on display and do a demonstration, as well as share about our program and our season.

It’s free and if your kids have ever shown an interest in robotics, this is a great time to let them see what it’s all about!

We encourage our community to come and join us for this event as we could not do this without the support of our wonderful school system and our community businesses and people.

RAM Robotics would love to give a HUGE “Thank you” to Wiregrass Technologies for their donation of a Glowforge Laser printer to our robotics program! We are again so thankful for our community and their continued support of our program. I can’t wait to learn how to use this machine and then teach our students how to use it to enrich our skills not only for designing our robots but also for creating new custom team swag!

We didn’t make it to the elimination round, but little ole’ Headland has left a mark on Vex Worlds. From our friendly booth with great team swag and our popular daily team shirts to our team YouTube interviews about our robot and team…this has been the experience of a lifetime for all of us. We won four of our matches and beat China, Switzerland and Germany and made friends with kids and adults from all over the world. These are all things that no other team from Headland has ever done. This experience has been an experience of a lifetime and I can’t thank our school system and sponsors enough for providing the funds we needed to get us here! We can’t wait to come back to Headland share our experiences with everyone!

While our “Country Bumpkins” are representing Headland at Worlds, our 9th graders are representing Headland RAM Robotics at the ATTA’s “Dream it, Do it” Day in Abbeville. They have set up a booth for hundreds of 8th graders from all over the state to visit today with a hands-on STEM robotics activity and a booth about how robotics in high school can translate to a career in the future. I’m so proud of their ability to plan, pack, set-up and show off their skills in such an adult setting. A huge thanks to Brianne Kent for leading them today and driving them to this event.

Today wasn’t the best day match-wise. We are 4 and 7 (4 wins and 7 losses) with one more match in the morning, but we had some major highlights today.

One of those was being asked to be interviewed by Tyler from the YouTube channel Fun Robotics Network for their segment called “Pits and Parts”. We have watched their videos about robots for years. We joked about being interviewed by them before we left Headland. It was surreal when it happened today. Our robot has surely stood out among the masses because of its unique design. So many people have stopped and asked about how it is built.

We will also be featured on “The River and Wilder Show” on YouTube because our daily t-shirts and stickers. They have been a hit and the MC actually mentioned that he had been looking forward to seeing what t-shirt we would all be wearing today. Our booth has been very popular and nailed the “theme” with our t-shirts, stickers and team swag. There show has almost 2 million subscribers!

And lastly, we continued meeting kids and adults from so many countries. We have really bonded with our friends Uganda and Ireland.

This has truly been an experience of a lifetime!

We finished off the day by visiting a baseball stadium and Union Station for ice cream.

We lost our first match this morning and won our 2nd one and highlight of the day so far…our team was just interviewed for the Parts and Pits YouTuber! I’ll post the link to it when it’s up. We have watched this guy for years and learned from his videos about robots and how to build them.
