Due to the weather this evening, PRACTICE IS CANCELED. It's looking like it will rain steady all practice with the chance of a thunderstorm, so no need to take any chances. See you on Wednesday in Grandview! I'll make another post about Wednesday shortly.

Schedule update:

For the 5th and 6th graders, there will be a Saturday tournament on October 3rd in Spooner starting at 9am.

I originally mentioned that it would take place on September 19th or 26th but that can be disregarded now.

So, the last practice for grades 3-6 will be on September 30th, and then the 5th and 6th graders will play in Spooner on October 3rd.

Announcement about youth night on Friday:

The varsity game versus Spooner kicks off at 7pm at Rod Lundberg Field. Please come and watch the game with your kid(s). Have them wear their Hayward Football shirts. Halfway through the second quarter, have your kid come over to the JV baseball field that is adjacent to the varsity football field. We will split into grades and will play at halftime of the varsity game. Each grade will play against itself (same as what we do at practice). After halftime, you are free to either stay and watch the second half or head home, although you are definitely encouraged to stay and cheer on the Canes, especially since they’re playing Spooner!

IMPORTANT: the kids are to remain with you either in the stands or near the fence by the field while the varsity game is being played. They are not allowed to congregate and toss footballs around in the area behind the stands.

An important note for check-in tomorrow:
From 4:30 to 5:30, your child is still your responsibility. Please either leave with your child and then come back for practice at 5:30, or stay with your child at the field and supervise them until 5:30.

Also, the participation fee this year is $30, and that covers participation, t-shirt, and water bottle. Cash or check is accepted.

Just want to give a few updates about the schedule this season.

--Next Monday, August 24th is our first practice - check-in and t-shirt handout will be be from 4:30 to 5:30 at the small field behind the skate park (the field in between the Middle and High School practice fields). Then practice will be from 5:30 to 7 at the Middle School field.

--Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 at the Middle School field. The last practice will be on Wednesday, September 30th.

--Friday, September 4th is youth night. The kids will play during halftime of the home varsity football game. More details to come.

--There will be no practice on Monday, September 7th (Labor Day).

--Games against Ashland will take place at the Grandview baseball fields on Wednesday, September 16th and Wednesday, September 23rd. Parents will be responsible for getting their kids there. Please get your kids to Grandview between 5:30 and 5:45. Games will start at 6.

--We are still working on joining a Heart O' North flag football Saturday meet-up. It will likely be either on September 19th or September 26th. More details to come.

The cost for the season will be $30 for each child. You can pay at check-in which will be right before the practice on August 24th. You will need to sign a waiver form as well which will be emailed out beforehand and will also be provided at check-in.

Hello! Since football season is nearing, here's an update on the youth schedule. Flag football season for the 3rd-6th graders will start on Monday, August 24 and go to Wednesday, September 30. Like last year, practice will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Middle School football field. Keep an eye on this page within the next week for an online signup form.

As for dates during the season:
-Youth night at halftime of the varsity football game will take place on Friday, September 4.

-There will be 2 game nights against Ashland, dates t.b.d.
-There will also be 2 Saturdays for games against other HON schools, dates t.b.d.
