THROWING: THE FORGOTTEN KEY TO HUMAN MOVEMENT
- Throwing isn’t just a movement-it’s a fundamental part of what makes us human. For over a million years, our ability to throw with precision shaped our survival, allowing us to hunt more effectively, secure food, and fuel the growth of our brains. It’s one of the reasons we took over the planet. No other species throws like we do, and our entire biomechanics-our shoulders, core, and even the way we stand-evolved around this ability.
Yet, in today’s world, most people have lost this crucial function. The ability to throw well with both arms is a sign of a well-integrated body. It requires coordination from head to toe, linking the upper and lower body through rotational power and elastic recoil. If you can’t throw efficiently, there’s a high chance your movement is disconnected-and that lack of connection often leads to pain, dysfunction, and premature aging.
we recognized early on that throwing is one of the FP First 4, along with standing, walking, and running. Our entire system is built around optimizing these fundamental human movements, because when you improve them, everything else in your life gets better. When you train to throw properly, you develop better posture, more efficient movement, and a higher probability of avoiding chronic pain and injuries. And less pain? That leads to better longevity, more energy, and a higher quality of life.
If you’re not training to move how your body evolved to, you’re training for dysfunction. Learn to throw the right way, and you’ll be unlocking the blueprint for human movement itself.
