Story Time

Good morning y’all. I would just like to take a little time to tell you a little back story to the “Papaw’s Magic Mississippi Jig”. This one pictured is very special & will never be sold nor fished with. This is the only jig I possess that was tied by my papaw Wayne after he passed. The people of his area at Lake Erling, AR just loved this jig & would ask him to tie them some of these bc Lord knows this jig tied by his hands just got those crappie’s mouths to open & ready to be fried up lol. Something about this jig tied by his hands had a sort of magic blessing on it so to say & I wouldn’t believe no different.
The day came of papaw’s visitation & my Dad & I decided what better way to honor his Dad & cope with the passing than to Go fishing that morning at one of our favorite spillways. Dad had a few of these jigs that were tied by papaw & were given to him by papaw himself. I tell yall papaw wayne most definitely had to be with us bc we fished with Shiners, other types of plastic jigs but no fish. We started fishing w/ papaw’s Mississippi Jigs used on the jig poles he gave us & I tell you IMMEDIATELY those crappie were fired up. 🥹 Dad & I afterwards had to just sit back & say “Wow papaw had to be talking to Jesus & just grinning watching us right now. Bc they only wanted to bite his jigs on his jig pole”

I keep that jig in my drawer of my jig tying kit & look at it sometimes & just think about him when I am tying jigs & think mine wont compare to his. Then just I know he is proud of me & even though I never got to show him my jigs in person, I know he there in spirit helping me do well & succeed doing this continuing his legacy.

Welcome to the page everyone! First, I would like to publicly thank any and all who follow & promote this page now & in future! This page will be dedicated to selling hand tied crappie jigs; A hobby my papaw Wayne Thompson showed me growing up. Now that he has passed on, I have taken up the hobby & joy of tying crappie jigs. My papaw thoroughly enjoyed fishing & tying jigs so much that he not only tied jigs to fish with, he was very kind hearted that he would tie jigs for others & give them some jigs using the color combos he knew the fish were currently biting best. So, I am deciding to continue in his footsteps & share something he loved with all of you! Stay tuned & I will soon be posting jigs I have tied, fish caught with said jigs, and my prices & packages etc etc.
