🏈 REGION 7 RECAP: HARTSELLE GETS BACK IN THE RACE

One week can make a big difference in Region 7.

After dropping its region opener to Russellville, Hartselle responded Friday night with a 28-0 Homecoming victory over East Limestone, improving to 2-2 overall and, more importantly, 1-1 in Region 7.

The Tigers weren't the only team to shake up the standings.

🔥 Florence 35, Russellville 21
Florence won the battle of unbeatens, improving to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the region. Russellville's first loss drops the Golden Tigers to 3-1 and 1-1 — the same region record as Hartselle.

🟡 Athens 28, Decatur 13
Athens joined Florence as the only remaining 2-0 teams in Region 7. The Golden Eagles improve to 3-1 overall, while Decatur falls to 1-3 and 0-2.

🐅 Hartselle 28, East Limestone 0
Exactly what Hartselle needed. The Tigers protected J.P. Cain Stadium on Homecoming night, recorded a shutout and earned their first region victory. Hartselle is now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the region.

🏈 Muscle Shoals 26, Austin 7
Muscle Shoals earned its first win of the season and created a four-team logjam at 1-1. The Trojans, Hartselle, Russellville and Austin are all one game behind the region leaders.

This one is important.

Hartselle and Muscle Shoals enter next Friday tied at 1-1 in Region 7. The winner moves to 2-1 and strengthens its position in the playoff race, while the loser falls to 1-2 with four region games remaining.

Elsewhere in Region 7:

🏈 Decatur at Florence
🏈 Austin at Athens
🏈 Russellville at East Limestone

Florence and Athens have the early advantage, but Hartselle is right back in the middle of the playoff race.

The Tigers took care of business at home.
