Coach Charles “Chuck” Ingram retires after an extraordinary 69-year coaching career, leaving behind a legacy that is unmatched in Illinois high school athletics and deeply rooted in the Harrisburg community.
Girls Basketball Coaching Achievements
• 🏀 Girls Basketball
• Served as varsity head coach of the Harrisburg Lady Bulldogs
• Achieved 250+ career wins in girls basketball
• Led teams to numerous IHSA postseason appearances, including regional, sectional, and super-sectional competition
• Coached during the HIGHLY COMPETITIVE Class A era, helping build Harrisburg into a respected Southern Illinois program
Track & Field and Cross Country Mentorship
• 🏃♀️ Track & Field & Cross Country
• Coached girls track & field and girls and boys cross country at Harrisburg for decades
• Developed athletes known statewide for discipline, consistency, and competitive excellence
• One of the longest-serving track and cross country coaches in Illinois history

• Recipient of the IBCA Derril Kipp Courage Award, presented by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. This honor recognizes coaches who exemplify exceptional courage, perseverance, character, and lifelong dedication to student-athletes and the game of basketball.
• Honored by Harrisburg Unit 3 School District, with the track and field facility named in his honor (2018) Although it has not been implemented, the majority of the faculty, including the current school board, are not aware of this naming. The cross-country course also bears his name.
