Throughout 2026, our horses and riders will represent Eques Equi Spiritus at parades, festivals, Renaissance fairs, educational demonstrations, historical sites, community events, and family-friendly appearances throughout Ohio. 🏰

Sir Mayday (Buddy), Lady Rebekah, and The Iron Rose (Justine) put in a 3 mile walk along the historic Ohio & Erie Towpath ( Ohio to Erie Trail ) in the historic Canal Fulton, located south of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

We got some great exposure miles in our new Trek Boots by Cavallo Hoof Boots, scoped out the layout, and prepped for what’s ahead as Eques Equi Spiritus and the DeathWatch Knights get ready for the Saturday morning, July 11 parade kicking off Olde Canal Days Festival and the USA 250 celebration.

The people we met along the way were kind, respectful, and completely enamored with dear Buddy which we always love to see people admire him as much as we do! 🥰🐴.

These quieter prep days are what build confident, steady horses for bigger public events, and Buddy was his normal steady & reliable warhorse self.

We’ll be riding in the parade and spending most of the afternoon at St. Helena Park afterwards for the festival, join us as lords and ladies of the realm, take photos beside your champion knights or astride your own warhorse, Sir Tater Trot!

Riders are welcome to join us under our banner in medieval garb, as long as your horse is parade proof and comfortable with crowds, noise, and commotion. ⚔️

A new recruit has joined the ranks of Eques Equi Spiritus… 👀

Unfortunately, the horses are not entirely convinced he’s real. 😅

Buddy: “Why is it staring at me?”
Archer: “I don’t trust it.”
Beartoe: *windows shutdown noise*

Today was the stuffed horse mascot’s official introduction to the herd and honestly… the reactions were better than we could’ve scripted. 🤣

No thoughts.
Only confusion.
Possibly judgment.

Cavallo Hoof Boots 🐴⚔️
Gravel? Pavement? New terrain?

Beartoe handled his very first trot sessions in his Cavallo boots like an absolute champ today. 💯

Watching him confidently step out across surfaces that would normally make him cautious or uncomfortable was honestly awesome to see. The difference in his willingness to move forward and stay relaxed was huge. 👀

Still dialing in fit, movement, and what works best for him specifically, but so far we’re really impressed with these boots. 🤗🐴

Cavallo Horse and Rider y’all might’ve created a monster now. 🤣⚔️🐴

🐴✨ If you’re going to learn to do something new, you have to be willing to be bad at it first. ✨🐴

You have to have the confidence to fail, the humility to listen, and the capability to let those mistakes teach you instead of discouraging you. 🪽⚔️🐴🌹

Today we spent some time practicing light between-trim rasping maintenance on the horses.
Thank you Rebekah for the encouragement and insight. 🫂

Nothing replaces a skilled farrier, and we deeply respect the professionals who do this every day, but learning more about hoof balance, movement, and maintenance helps us better support our animals between visits.

Slowly, carefully, and always putting the horses first. ⚔️🐴

The Eques Equi Spiritus crew is looking for riders interested in joining us for a themed knightly parade during the Olde Canal Days Festival on July 11th in Canal Fulton, Ohio!

Would you (or anyone you know) be interested in participating in approximately a 1 mile parade alongside armored knights, horses, banners, and medieval/fantasy themed fun? ⚔️✨

We’re looking for:
🐴 Calm, parade-safe horses
🛡️ Riders (or in-hand walkers) comfortable around costumes, crowds, and noise.
👑 Medieval, fantasy, renaissance, cavalry, or knightly vibes encouraged!
🤝 Friendly people who want to help bring some magic to the community

This is meant to be family-friendly, immersive, and fun not a speed event or competition. Think living storybook meets knightly procession. 😊
