Evan Gillis, AKA spends a lot of time at the vise tying larger predator flies, almost always incorporating Squimpish at the head of his patterns. Growing up tying on the East Coast, he still enjoys dabbling in salmon, trout, and striped bass flies. These days, though, muskies are his favorite to chase, but he’ll occasionally settle for pike when the opportunity presents itself.

Adam Hortenberry, AKA .hortenberry is a fly tyer, angler, and now writer for On the Fly South. He originally hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, and now lives in Atlanta, GA. Adam spent nearly 15 years on the East Coast, mostly living in the great state of Rhode Island. Fly tying is a huge passion of Adam’s, and he loves to show anglers how to create patterns that help them succeed on all their fishing adventures. Adam’s influences in tying range from folks like Kelly Galloup to the late Bob Popovics, which directly led him to David Nelson’s product Squimpish Fibers. Recently, the introduction of Squimpish Fibers has become a significant part of his tying patterns. Some of Adam’s favorite species to target include Smallmouth Bass, Carp, Striped Bass, Bluefish, and hopefully Bonefish, among many others.

Brian Sheppard, AKA , is a lifelong avid outdoorsman, is a native of Florida and Indiana. He learned to fly fish at age 13 while summering in bucolic Blairstown, NJ. Taught by family friend and respected angler/author Bob Romano, he was instantly hooked. The next natural step was tying his own flies but it only became a passion once linking up a tying group of fishing buddies when Brian moved to New York City. From there Brian created CityFly, a NY/NJ/CT licensed guide service, custom fly shop, and fly fishing education. A large focus of CityFly is on the urbanite looking to learn in the city’s natural resources, such as Central Park, and then get out there to utilized learned skills in the wild. In addition to CityFly, Brian is also professional actor with a master in fine art from Butler University. When not working, Brian enjoys surfing, camping, hiking, cooking, and enjoying all New York City has to offer.
