🏁 RACE DAY RECAP – DILLON MOTOR SPEEDWAY 9/7/26 🏁

Another FIRST in the books for Slick Nick Newsome and JLM Motorsports as a team! 💪🏁

We originally came to Dillon to run Chargers, but with only 3 Chargers showing up, we made the decision to jump into the YL division instead. We came all this way to race, and racing against a 26-car field sounded a whole lot better than racing in three!

Unfortunately, Mother Nature didn't exactly help us out. Our Sunday practice was rained out after only two rounds. Monday we were able to get one more practice round in before qualifying, but we were definitely heading into this one with limited track time.

Slick Nick qualified P23 out of 26 cars. We weren't too surprised considering we're still learning the track and didn't have a full set of new tires to throw at it. But one thing was already clear — Nick LOVES Dillon Motor Speedway! 🔥

Then it was time to race!
Unfortunately, lap 1, turn 1, the toe got knocked out on the car. Definitely not the way we wanted to start a race, especially with nearly the entire feature still ahead of us. But Nick kept digging! 💪
He stayed in it, avoided the big wrecks, made passes and continued learning lap after lap.
With about 4 laps remaining, the race went under a red flag. With absolutely nothing to lose and this entire trip being about learning, the team pulled Nick into the hot pit and went to work fixing the toe. 🔧
They got it fixed and had him back out before the field returned to green!
Nick said the car was MUCH better in those final four laps and we could definitely tell the difference from watching.

🏁 Finished: P16
⬆️ Gained 7 positions
🚗 Car came home in ONE PIECE!
For our first trip to Dillon, and racing with YL we'll take it!
Sometimes bringing the car home in one piece after a race like that is a WIN all by itself! 🙌

Another track checked off the list and another experience in the notebook for Slick Nick #31! 🏁🔥

🏁 RACE DAY RECAP – CORDELE MOTOR SPEEDWAY 📅 9/5/26 🏁

First trip to Cordele Motor Speedway is officially in the books — and we’re bringing home a P3 finish! 🥉🏁

This was our first time at Cordele as a team and Slick Nick’s first time behind the wheel at this track, so we came knowing there would be plenty to learn.

⏱️ QUALIFYING:�We landed P6, putting Nick on the outside of Row 3 for the feature.

🏁 FEATURE:�Nick was ready to roll, but once the green dropped, he just couldn’t find the grip he was hoping for. On a track this big, the draft makes a huge difference, and unfortunately Nick spent almost the entire race as a lone rider, unable to hook up with another car and get the draft he needed.

And when we say lone rider… we mean it! 😂 Definitely a BIG change of pace from the smaller tracks where Nick is used to being right in the middle of the action.

But apparently the race decided to save all of Nick’s excitement for the final trip to the checkered flag! 🔥

Coming to the finish, there was an incident with the cars ahead of him that suddenly turned it into a DRAG RACE TO THE CHECKERED between Nick and another car for the 3rd-place spot!

Nick put his foot in it and SNATCHED P3 AT THE LINE! 🥉🏁🔥

Not a bad way to end your first trip to Cordele!
More importantly, we came here to LEARN, and we definitely did. One of the biggest things we took away is just how important the draft is during qualifying at a track like this. Getting left out there alone can make a huge difference — lesson learned and officially noted. 📝

That’s what traveling to different tracks is all about. Nick will take everything he felt behind the wheel, think about what he could have done differently, and use it to make himself better the next time.

So far, our driver still seems to like the excitement and action of the smaller tracks a little more 😂… but we’re not making that call just yet!

We’ll get our first look at another big track with practice tomorrow, followed by RACING MONDAY!

Let’s see if Slick Nick changes his mind about these big tracks after Dillon! 👀🔥
