Our team had their first experience competing in the WIFA State Tournament over in Wausau this past weekend.

The day started off a very slow, but we were able to pick up some fish as the day went on. More importantly, it was an awesome experience for the kids and a great year 1 for our program.

We’re already looking forward to Year 2 — going in with more experience, a better understanding of tournament fishing looks like, and knowing what to expect in these different types of tournaments .

We want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us and donated along the way.

10th place at the Chetek Regional yesterday! 🎣

We struggled to find fish during the first couple of hours, but after making a small move we were able to get on some panfish. The bite wasn’t very aggressive, but we managed to reel in enough to finish strong.

Up next is the State Tournament, and we’re excited for the opportunity!

Overall, it was a great day to be out on the ice! ❄️🎣 The bite was not the best we have ever had, but we caught quite a few panfish, with our biggest coming in around at 9 inches! We struggled a bit getting any game fish hooked up, but it was still a successful first contest for our team.

We’ll be back at it in two weeks, and hopefully we can get on some more fish — and bigger fish then! 💪🐟

A huge thank you to Four Seasons bait north of Baldwin for donating bait to help supply our kids. They truly are the best of the best — incredibly generous and great people. Anytime you need bait, make sure you stop at Four Seasons Bait. You won’t be disappointed!

Great day practicing fishing today! No big fish, but we got to learn how things are going to operate on contest days! Everyone got a fish! We are looking forward to competing in our first contest!
