The theme for this year is “keep getting better” and that’s exactly what Sophia did today. The day started rough with a downpour and a river through our tent. Sophia placed 4th in her heat for senior which put her in 7th to start the feature. She ran hard (could have passed a few times but lost her nerve) and still finished 7th in her feature. In Light 160 she finished her heat only for us to find she didn’t have full power the whole time because there was a big hole in her exhaust (see pictures). Thanks to fellow driver Chase Hitz and his parents we got another exhaust and were able to switch them out for the feature. She started 8th in the feature and finished 6th. She drove the crap out of her car and did amazing because it was super loose given that we didn’t have any specs to go from on her heat. She’s been working on running her line and we can’t ask her to get any closer to the wall than she did given that we now have some wall scuffs on that outside tire! We are very proud of Sophia’s driving today. She’s consistently improving and moving up in the standings. We still have plenty to work on, but it was a good day.
