Player Spotlight: Rhymee Rutherford. Pryor softball. Junior.

Rhymee is the 19th ranked player in the nation for the 2028 class. The number 2 overall player in Oklahoma. 5th ranked outfielder in the nation, and the #1 outfielder in the state of Oklahoma! 👀

Here is a Q&A with Rhymee:

1.) What makes this team so special?
“This team is so special because of our ability to make softball so much fun. There is never a day (even on our hardest days) that we are not all enjoying each other’s presence and just having so much fun. I think this translates to our success, giving every one the ability to relax and have fun.”

2.) What is the best piece of advice a coach has given you?
“To never forget to play kid-like. Forgiving yourself and having so much fun. As an over-analyzer, this perspective has helped me. My younger self never degraded myself by not performing well, I was just worried about having fun and making the most of it. So I would say, always thinking to play kid-like reminds me to not take things too seriously and to just enjoy the game.”

3.) How do you help pick up a younger teammate or slumping player?
“I help a player in a slump to find something to be grateful for. So then your perspective is only focused on the positives and not negatives.”

4.) Where do you see yourself in 4 years?
“In four years I see myself in my junior year of college playing softball at a P4 school getting my degree in sports psychology.”
