I’m posting this as a Public Service Announcement to help save everyone who uses honing stones to keep their skates sharp.
Did you know that the honing stone can go bad? The more you use the stone the more lopsided it can get and will actually damage the edge by rolling it when you use them. To fix this without having to buy a new stone, find some smooth concrete, add some water to reduce friction and then start level your stone by moving it back and forth on the concrete while applying pressure. After a couple of minutes you’ll see the stone start to level out again. Make sure to do it on both sides. It’s an easy way to save a few bucks from a new sharpening and a new stone. Hope everyone is having a great hockey season! Many cheers - Nick
