A Cut Above The Best (Skate Sharpening)

I’m posting this as a Public Service Announcement to help save everyone who uses honing stones to keep their skates sharp.
Did you know that the honing stone can go bad? The more you use the stone the more lopsided it can get and will actually damage the edge by rolling it when you use them. To fix this without having to buy a new stone, find some smooth concrete, add some water to reduce friction and then start level your stone by moving it back and forth on the concrete while applying pressure. After a couple of minutes you’ll see the stone start to level out again. Make sure to do it on both sides. It’s an easy way to save a few bucks from a new sharpening and a new stone. Evaluations for the 2023-2024 season are this week! You MUST be registered and your $200 fee must be paid before evaluations take place!

Good morning everyone. Well it is a sad day and a great day. The sad part is high school soccer season ended for us in heartbreak Saturday night. The good news is (yet I would have preferred to be sending this out 2 weeks from now with a state championship) my schedule is now more open for sharpenings.

However, I’m out of town starting Thursday (last trip of the year I know of) with GBHS student government. Should be back late Sunday night.

Thanks for all the patience. I appreciate everyone and you being so flexible with my coaching schedule over the past few months.

It’s almost Christmas time. Make sure those elves are gonna sharpen those skates this season. Sometimes Santa’s helpers forget to do a great job. If they don’t do a great job, call me and I’ll help St. Nick’s crew bring the best sharpening to those new skates!
