It’s been a while so here’s a little bit about me:
I attended the University of Florida, where I was a member of the Recruiting Operations team for Florida Football for three years. Go Gators! I love baking, country music, and traveling. My passion for fitness started with lacrosse in high school, and has extended to mud runs and powerlifting.

My focus is set on teaching and not ordering my clients around. I show them everything they need to know, so they can reach their goals AND maintain them long-term. I am a fitness coach that will motivate you, teach you, and guide you towards reaching results you never thought were possible.

I run the most (distance and frequency) when I visit my family in Florida and here’s why: featuring my parents’ neighborhood.
I’m not kidding when I tell people that central Florida has lakes and ponds EVERYWHERE.

You don’t have to be miserable while you work on your fitness. There are many parts that can genuinely be enjoyable so allow yourself to search and be selective until you find the things that fit YOU and your goals.
* Find places to workout at that give you peace and help you get in the zone. [This trail is my go to for runs.]
* Wear the gym clothes you’re comfortable in and give you confidence.
* Listen to your favorite music or podcasts.
* Workout with the friend you wish you saw more often.
* Incorporate challenges and exercises you want to see progress with but also include one of your favorite exercises or cardio.
* Try new things from time to time, like a hip hop fitness class, swimming, or whatever you haven’t done previously. Expand your horizons.
These are just a few examples.
You only have one body and your health is priceless. So take care of it regardless of your goals. Enjoy the process because you can! And remember that your fitness is a gift to celebrate.

Don’t forget to include power specific exercises in your programming.
These movements can be explosive like the ones above (Single Arm Kettlebell Power Cleans with rotation & Single Arm Dumbbell Push Press), or can be exercises with modified tempo like a 1-1-4 tempo (fast contraction, one-second hold at the top of the movement, and slow four-second negative as you get back to your starting position).
Why is power important for non-athletes?
You can benefit from power training even if you’re not playing an explosive sport on a consistent basis. Here’s why.
You have two kinds of muscle fibers. Slow twitch (type I) and fast twitch (type II). Fast twitch muscle fibers are engaged the most, and therefore strengthened, with power specific training.
So including SOME power in your training from time to time (maybe even one exercise per week), is going to help balance and complete your strength training, regardless of your goals.
