Come learn the basics, improve your skills, compete, and have fun with the future of LOA Wrestling!

📅 July 10 & 11
👦👧 Open to boys & girls rising Kindergarten through 6th grade

💲$30 per day
💲$50 for both days

Our camp will feature:
✅ Wrestling instruction
✅ Live wrestling & games

Open Mat opportunities are here this June! 🤼‍♂️🔥

As we prepare for the FIRST wrestling season in Lake Oconee Academy history, we’re inviting anyone interested in wrestling to come get on the mat, learn the basics, improve skills, and be part of building something new from the ground up.

Tomorrow, LOA Wrestling takes the mat for our Inter-Squad Scrimmage. Our wrestlers will get their first experience in live matches—with an official, a crowd, and real competition.

We’ll also have a brief parent meeting and an introduction to how wrestling works for those new to the sport.

WRESTLING 101 – Scoring Basics 🧠🤼‍♂️

If you’re new to wrestling, here’s how points are earned under NFHS / GHSA rules:

🔹 Takedown (3 pts) – When a wrestler gains control from a neutral position.
🔹 Escape (1 pt) – Getting free from bottom and returning to neutral.
🔹 Reversal (2 pts) – Turning defense into offense and gaining control.
🔹 Near Fall (2–4 pts) – When an opponent’s shoulders are held near the mat and the referee counts.

⚠️ Penalties (points awarded progressively to the opponent):
• Stalling – Avoiding action or not attempting to score
• Illegal Holds – Prohibited techniques
• Unnecessary Roughness – Excessive force
• Flagrant Misconduct – Fighting, malicious contact, or actions meant to injure (results in disqualification)

The more you understand the scoring, the better you’ll understand what’s happening on the mat.
