Here are the final results of the 2026 Iowa State Track & Field Championships held on May 21-23 in Des Moines.

State Track Recap!

Thursday started off with the shuttle hurdle relay. Unfortunately, Alexis Rose suffered a hamstring injury while preparing for the state meet. Despite the setback, the girls still battled their way to a 20th-place finish overall.

Due to the injury, Alexis was also forced to scratch from the 100m hurdles. While it was very unfortunate, we are extremely proud of the way she handled such a difficult moment with grace and courage, still stepping up to run the shuttle for her teammates.

Izzy O’Dowd placed 18th in discus with a throw of 107-5. Izzy has worked hard all four years and qualified for state in discus three different seasons.

The 4x100 relay team also finished 21st with a time of 51.76. Laney Brinkman also competed in the 400m hurdles, finishing 17th overall with a time of 1:09.85.

Cora Barnett is now a two-time state event qualifier and looks to continue building on that next season. Linde Fleshner also looks to succeed in the next three years. Laney Brinkman finishes her career as an eight-time state event qualifier over four years, while Alexis Rose ends with six state event qualifications over four years. Claire McCandless finishes as a three-time state qualifier.

We appreciate every senior on this team and the leadership they brought to the program. This class will truly be missed. Thank you for setting the standard for the younger athletes and proving that track can be competitive while still being fun💛

Thank you to Kiya Johnson, former North Butler athlete and 2022 400m hurdle state champion, for stopping by practice today as we prepare for Des Moines. Your support, advice, and encouragement are greatly appreciated, and our athletes loved hearing from someone who has been in their shoes before!💛

Congratulations to the following North Butler girls track athletes on qualifying for the state track meet!

- Alexis Rose qualified in the 100m hurdles with a 16.77, the 23rd fastest time going into state

- Laney Brinkman qualified in the 400m hurdles with a 1:07.66, the 8th fastest time going into state

- Izzy O’Dowd qualified in discus with a throw of 109’5”, the 15th best mark going into state

- The shuttle hurdle relay team of Laney Brinkman, Claire McCandless, Linde Fleshner, and Alexis Rose qualified with a school-record time of 1:08.72, the 6th fastest time going into state

- The 4x100 relay team of Alexis Rose, Claire McCandless, Laney Brinkman, and Cora Barnett qualified with a school-record time of 51.62, the 14th fastest time going into state

Also a great night for personal records as Faith Eberline ran a PR in the 800m and Kilee Groen recorded a PR in shot put.

Proud of the way these girls competed and represented North Butler all season long. Good luck at state!
