REDEMPTION COMPLETE! 🏁🏆

Not quite two years ago, Evan’s first taste of regional karting came with Cup Karts North America. It was a humbling experience and one that left plenty of unfinished business.
This weekend at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America, that story came full circle.

Competing in the Cup Karts North America Double Header, Evan returned to the series where his regional racing journey began.

On Saturday, he delivered the performance he had been chasing for two years, qualifying pole position, racing up front, and standing on the top step of the podium. Redemption day had finally arrived.

But the weekend wasn’t finished

After celebrating the CKNA victory, the team packed up and headed to Mill-Rite Raceway for the Badger Kart Club’s Sunday racing action. Pulling double duty in both Sportsman and MiniSwift, Evan faced an entirely different challenge. New track conditions, different tire compounds, changing kart setups, and a quick turnaround between events can test even the most experienced drivers.

Evan answered the challenge by racing at the front all day long, bringing home a pair of P2 finishes in Sportsman and MiniSwift.
Winning on Saturday. Fighting for victories in two classes on Sunday.

Different tracks. Different tires. Different setups. Same result: racing at the front.
A weekend that started with redemption ended with another reminder that Evan can compete for the lead no matter the challenge.

🏁 Route 66 Sprint Series Round 2 at
Norway Motorsports Park Recap 🏁

If there was ever a weekend that captured why we love this sport, this might’ve been the one

The Route 66 Series rolled into Norway Motorsports Park this weekend, and Evan was once again pulling double duty in both the Sportsman (4-stroke) and Mini Swift (2-stroke) classes.

🏆 SPORTSMAN: FIRST REGIONAL VICTORY

The Sportsman class exceeded our expectations from the very beginning.

Friday's changing weather conditions kept everyone guessing, and we even forced Evan to turn laps in the rain on slick tires. Let's just say that session was a little humbling; but those are often the moments where the biggest lessons are learned.

Qualifying didn't quite go to plan. We left some speed on the table and ended up P4, but once the racing started, Evan came alive.

Over the next two 14-lap heat races, he charged to the front and captured back-to-back heat race victories, earning pole position for Sunday's 18-lap final.

What followed was an absolute heavyweight fight.

For all 18 laps, Evan had the 244 kart of Liam Fohr glued to his rear bumper. Every corner mattered. Every lap mattered. Evan never blinked.

Then, with just two laps remaining, Liam made his move.

He was able to complete the pass and briefly took over the lead, setting up a dramatic finish. But Evan answered immediately, reclaiming the top spot and refusing to let it go. The two young drivers raced nose-to-tail through some lapped traffic and to the checkered flag in one of the best battles of the weekend.

After nearly twenty laps of relentless pressure, Evan crossed the finish line just 0.180 seconds ahead of Liam, securing his first-ever regional Route 66 Series victory.

🚀 MINI SWIFT: A COMEBACK FROM AN UPSIDE DOWN RACE

Over in Mini Swift, local standout Michael Tsyupka reminded everyone what thousands of laps at Norway Motorsports Park can do.

Keeping pace with him all weekend was a challenge.

Evan finished P2 in Heat 1 and P3 in Heat 2 behind Tsyupka and Franklin Motorsports teammate Darius Zaremba, lining us up P3 for the final.

Then came the moment that stopped all of our hearts.

On Lap 7, while attempting a pass, Evan became involved in a racing incident that sent his kart upside down.

As a dad, your mind immediately goes to the worst place.

I took off running toward the accident scene.

Before I could even get there, Evan had already crawled out from underneath the kart and was standing beside it giving everyone a thumbs up.

Then came the most Evan response imaginable.

He pulled off his helmet and asked:

"Is my helmet okay?"

It was.

Then he asked:

"Is my kart okay?"

With the help of a race official, we flipped it back over and looked everything over. Nothing appeared seriously damaged.

That's when Evan looked at us and said:

"Let me go race!"

After the official completed a more thorough inspection of both driver and kart, race control gave him permission to continue.

Forced to restart from the back of the field, Evan put on a determined drive slicing his way through the field and somehow fighting all the way back to P2 by the checkered flag.

WHY WE KEEP RACING

This weekend wasn't just about trophies.

It was about perseverance.

It was about overcoming adversity.

It was about learning, fighting through setbacks, and refusing to quit.

A first regional victory in Sportsman.

A rollover and comeback drive to second in Mini Swift.

Most people only see the highlight reels. The smiles. The trophies. The victory lane photos. What they don’t often see are the moments like this.

The tears hidden behind a helmet. The disappointment after a race doesn’t go the way you hoped. The frustration of mistakes. The heartbreak of mechanical failures. The feeling of giving everything you have and still coming up short.

The racing is fast. The action happens in seconds. But so do the emotions. These young drivers experience the highest highs and the lowest lows, often within the same race day. And because race days move at a relentless pace, there usually isn’t much time to sit with those feelings.

As parents, crew members, and race families, we spend a lot of time teaching them how to drive. But some of the biggest lessons happen outside of the car. Learning how to handle disappointment, how to regroup after failure, how to keep going when things don’t feel fair, and how to find the grit to climb back in and try again.

We have to remember that these are the learning years. While winning is fun, that’s not the ultimate goal right now. We want them to learn, improve, and be proud of their effort and performance regardless of where they finish. If they can walk away knowing they drove better, made smarter decisions, or improved something we have been working on with them, that’s something worth celebrating too.

The trophies are great. The pictures in victory lane are memories we’ll cherish forever. But moments like this are building something even more important than race car drivers. They’re building resilient young people who know how to handle adversity, learn from setbacks, and keep moving forward.

Fresh off a dominant Sunday at Badger Kart Club, Evan Liesch rolled into Tuesday night’s race at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America with confidence and momentum. But as every racer learns, motorsports has a way of keeping you humble.

The night started strong with a P2 finish behind Liam Fohr in Heat 1 before Evan bounced back to take the win in Heat 2, setting the stage for another showdown between the two front-runners.

The feature race delivered exactly that.

Evan jumped to the lead and controlled the race for 8 of the 10 laps, looking poised to add another victory to his season tally. But with the pressure mounting and Liam close behind, the battle intensified in the closing laps. Liam was able to capitalize late and make the pass for the lead, with Evan crossing the line in P2 after a hard-fought race.

While the final result wasn’t the one Evan was chasing, nights like these are part of the journey. After a weekend of victories, Tuesday served as a reminder that every race presents a new challenge and every battle makes you better.

DOUBLE VICTORY DAY FOR EVAN LIESCH AT BADGER KART CLUB 🏁🏆🏆

After spending the day yesterday at Road America as a MotoAmerica spectator and getting to meet Mathew Scholtz and the Strack Racing team (Thank You so much for the behind the scenes tour!!!), Evan decided that we needed to make the trip south to Badger Kart Club in Dousman, Wisconsin, and he won both the Sportsman and MiniSwift classes, showcasing speed, determination, and racecraft from the first green flag to the final checkered flag.

The Sportsman class didn't start the way Evan had hoped. After lining up P12 for Heat 1, he was caught in an incident in Turn 2 that gave the leaders a half lap lead. Refusing to give up, Evan was able to race up to finish P7 in an impressive comeback drive.

Heat 2 told a different story as Evan battled his way to a strong P2 finish, setting himself up for the feature event.

What followed in the Sportsman Final was one of the best races of the day. For nearly all 10 laps, Evan, Liam Fohr, and Arlo Barr traded positions in a three-kart battle that had fans on their feet. The lead changed hands multiple times as all three drivers raced respectfully but aggressively, each taking a turn at the front. When the dust settled, Evan emerged victorious, with Liam Fohr crossing the line in second and Arlo Barr completing the podium in third.

If the Sportsman victory showcased perseverance, the MiniSwift class showcased pure speed.

Evan looked locked in from the moment the karts hit the track, winning both heat races and carrying that momentum straight into the final. He controlled the pace throughout the day and capped off a dominant performance with another victory lane appearance, completing a perfect MiniSwift sweep.

Two classes. Four race wins. One unforgettable day.

Tuesday nights are BACK at Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America and Evan Liesch just opened the season with a SportsCenter Top 10 type performance.

The #007 machine was untouchable all night long, sweeping Heat 1, Heat 2, and the Feature in a statement-making season opener against a stacked Briggs Sportsman field.

But the headline moment came in Heat Race #2.

Starting dead last in 12th position, Evan put on an absolute clinic. In only six laps, he charged through the field with aggressive passes, perfectly timed moves, and relentless pace — going from P12 to P1 in a drive that felt more like a highlight reel than a heat race.

Then came the Feature.

With the lights on and the pressure rising, Evan and guess who; Liam Fohr delivered a heavyweight fight at the front of the field. The two young stars traded speed lap after lap, with neither driver giving an inch. Every corner mattered. Every draft mattered. Every lap felt like the final one.

When the checkered flag dropped, it was Evan Liesch standing on top — surviving a drag race to the line by just .059 seconds.

A clean sweep.
A last-to-first charge.
A photo-finish victory.

ROAD AMERICA KART CLUB RECAP 🏁

What a day at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex for Evan Liesch and the ELR crew. In a stacked Sportsman field loaded with talent, Evan came ready to throw punches from the first green flag of the morning — and never let up.

Evan showed elite pace all day long, sweeping both heat races before capping it off with a commanding victory in the feature. The lap times were blistering, the competition was fierce, and the #007 machine delivered every single session. When the pressure ramped up in the final, Evan answered with his fastest laps of the day and drove away with authority to stand on the top step at Road America.

But if Sportsman was smooth sailing… Miniswift was an absolute war.

⚔️ Miniswift Battles with Liam Fohr ⚔️

The team fought through issue after issue throughout the day — chasing the kart with gearing changes, tire pressure adjustments, and nonstop tuning decisions trying to find the sweet spot. Despite the constant challenges, Evan kept himself right in the hunt every time the track went green.

The result? Three straight dogfights with buddy / arch-nemesis Liam Fohr.

The Miniswift feature was edge-of-your-seat racing from start to finish. Evan was glued to Liam’s rear bumper lap after lap, applying relentless pressure and searching for any opening he could find. Every corner looked like “the move” might finally happen. But Liam drove a phenomenal defensive race, shutting every door just enough to keep the lead (video in comments). Evan made multiple attempts to get alongside, but couldn’t quite make a pass stick before the checkered flag flew.

Sometimes racing is domination. Sometimes it’s survival. Today was both.

A huge congratulations to Liam on an awesome drive, and massive credit to the ELR crew for continuing to fight through adversity all day long. Another weekend of learning, adapting, and stacking podiums at one of the most competitive karting facilities in the country. 👊🏁
