πŸŒ… And finally... the sunset ride! 🐴

After emergency trailer repairs with "high-speed twine," missing dogs, surprise horse hunts, moving our entire operation because of the mud, and spending way too much time looking for horses that were apparently at the cabin the whole time... πŸ˜‚

We somehow managed to pull it all together just in time for Rick and Lee's sunset ride.
Not only did they help us lead horses down the road, move equipment, groom, tack up, and navigate the chaos, they did it all with smiles on their faces and a great attitude. We kept waiting for them to ask what kind of circus they had signed up for... but they never complained once. 🀣

What started as a raffle prize at the gun show turned into a friendship we're truly grateful for. Sometimes the best adventures aren't the ones that go exactly as plannedβ€”they're the ones where everyone rolls with the punches together.

And as if we didn't already have enough reasons to appreciate them, they left us a gift in the cabin before they headed home. Rick and Lee are talented artists, and they drew the cutest sketch of the outhouse for us. We loved it so much that it now has a permanent spot on display in the kitchen. ❀️🎨

Thank you, Rick and Lee, for being such great sports, for embracing the adventure, and for leaving behind a little piece of your creativity for us to enjoy. We're so glad the weekend finally ended the way it was supposed to... with good horses, good people, a beautiful Montana sunset, and memories we'll be talking about for years to come.

Congratulations again on winning the raffle, and thank you for becoming part of The Kinder Cowboy family! 🀠🐴

"The horses may have had their own plans... but the sunset was worth the wait." πŸŒ…πŸ΄πŸ˜‚

🚨 PART 2: The Raffle Winners Adventure 🚨

What was supposed to be a simple "unload the horses and go ride" quickly turned into another Kinder Cowboy production. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚

After unloading horses, we headed out across the Stevenson Ranch property looking for our tour horses...
..only to discover our winners had them caught at the cabin the entire time. 🀣🐴

To make things even more interesting, recent moisture meant we had to change our usual departure location at the last minute.

Instead of simply hopping on and riding out, everyone pitched in ❀️

Rick and Lee helped us lead horses down the road to the corrals, groom them, and get them tacked up just in time for their sunset ride. πŸŒ…πŸŽ

Not once did they complain about the chaos, the last-minute changes, or the extra work. They rolled with every curveball like seasoned cowboys and cowgirls and were happy to be part of the adventure 😎

The funny thing is that Rick and Lee started out as raffle winners from our gun show giveaway, but along the way they've become friends.

We're incredibly grateful this event brought them into our lives πŸ™

Sometimes the best memories aren't made when everything goes according to planβ€”they happen when everyone works together to make the best of the unexpected.

Thank you, Rick and Lee, for your patience, your help, and for being the kind of people who make even the chaotic days fun. We can't wait to have you back out on the mountain again! Truly blessed we got to meet these two! 🀠❀️

Stay tuned for Part 3 of our sunset tour with Rick and Lee! πŸ‘€

🎟️ Raffle Winners Adventure 🐴🌲

Our guests made it up to Highwood for their raffle-winning horseback adventure, and the day started the way most ranch days do... with a little bit of everything. πŸ˜‚

From hauling horses and trailers, to soaking in the views, to getting everything ready for the ride, the journey is half the adventure around here.

The Highwood Mountains were showing off, the horses were feeling good, and we were excited to get our winners out on the trail!

This is just part of the adventureβ€”stay tuned for when we( and we mean Rick and Lee) actually find the horses, saddle up, and hit the mountains! πŸ”οΈπŸŽ

Congratulations again to Rick and Lee, and thank you for supporting our small business. We can't wait to share the rest of the ride with you all!

🎟️ Raffle Winners Adventure 🐴🌲

Our first place winners made it up to Highwood for their raffle-winning horseback adventure, and the day started the way most ranch days do... with a little bit of everything πŸ˜‚
We had to reorganize a bit with the moisture on this day but there was much worse to come πŸ˜…

From hauling horses and trailers, to soaking in the views, to getting everything ready for the ride, the journey is half the adventure around here. The Highwood Mountains were showing off, the horses were feeling good, and we were excited to get our winners out on the trail.

This is just the beginning of the adventure and these guys were so easy to work with between all the chaos and rearranging πŸ˜… β€”stay tuned for when we(Rick and Lee) actually find our horses, saddle up, and hit the mountains! πŸ”οΈπŸŽ

Part 1:
Preparing for Our Raffle Winners' Weekend Stay πŸ˜‚πŸ΄

Getting ready for a simple trip to Highwood to take our raffle winners up to the cabin and on their horseback adventure should have been easy...
Should have been.

Instead, we got:
βœ… Emergency trailer repairs with High-Speed Twineβ„’ (DOT approved in our hearts)

βœ… A full meeting of the Kinder Cowboy Union Crew
One person works
Everyone else supervises
Poor pay
No benefits
Unlimited horse hair in your vehicle

βœ… The dogs disappearing to chase bunnies the exact moment we were ready to leave

βœ… A surprise search-and-rescue mission before we could even get out of the driveway

βœ… Kira running herself into exhaustion chasing who-knows-what and requiring a hydration break before we even left home πŸ˜‚

Sometimes social media makes it look like we just saddle up and ride off into the sunset...

Reality usually looks a lot more like twine repairs, missing dogs, chaos, and last-minute problem solving.
But somehow it always comes together in the end. 🀠

Stay tuned for Part 2 as we finally make it to Highwood where our raffle winners were settled into the cabin for their mountain getaway awaiting their sunset adventure!

The Great Escape(s)

Apparently the horses got together and scheduled a team-building exercise this weekend... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ΄

Our raffle winners came up to enjoy their cabin stay and horseback adventure -stay tuned for that 😎
Everything was going great until the gate was forgotten... πŸ˜…
This was poor communication on our part for not mentioning it, buuuuut anyway...

A few hours later we discovered several of our horses had decided they had important business elsewhere and were casually making their way down the road like they paid property taxes there πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Cue Gabriel spending the next several miles playing "Cowboy Traffic Control" while convincing a small herd of horses that their pasture was actually a pretty nice place to be πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ΄βž‘οΈ

Meanwhile...
Back at home...

The horses apparently received the same memo because our Lamb Cam caught another group plotting their own escape. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ™„πŸ™ƒ

At this point we're starting to believe the horses are revolting 😀

βœ”οΈ Gates left open
βœ”οΈ Horses on the road
βœ”οΈ Horses escaping at home
βœ”οΈ Lamb Cam surveillance footage
βœ”οΈ Our blood pressure increasing by the minute

The good news is everyone made it safely back where they belonged, no horses were harmed, and our raffle winners got a bonus "authentic ranch experience" they definitely weren't expecting. 🀣

Life with horses is never boring... and if everything goes according to plan, you're probably doing it wrong or we are seriously doing something wrong πŸ˜…

Who's got the best horse escape artist story? Let's hear it! πŸ‘‡πŸ˜‚πŸ΄

Part 2:
Bringing the Old Cabin Back to Life πŸͺ΅πŸŽ¨πŸ‘

What most people see is the finished cabin.
What they don’t always see is the chaos it takes to get there πŸ˜‚

This master bedroom started as a full construction zone β€” paint cans everywhere, tools scattered around, furniture piled up, dust on everything, and us questioning our life choices at least a couple times along the way πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜…

And because nothing can ever be easy up here… we also had to carry a giant dresser across the bridge and all the way up the hill to the cabin by hand because the mud was too bad and the dresser was too big to fit in the side-by-side πŸ˜‚πŸ’€

Needless to say… cabin renovations in the mountains apparently double as strength training.

But little by little, the vision started coming together ❀️

There’s something really special about taking an old cabin with so much history and breathing life back into it while still keeping that authentic Montana feel.

The before-and-after at the end honestly made all the long days, unexpected snowstorms, muddy boots, and paint-covered clothes worth it. πŸ”₯🏑

Still a lot more work ahead… but we’re getting closer every trip πŸ‘€πŸ”οΈ

Part 1: The Drive In β„οΈπŸššπŸ”οΈ

Loaded down with furniture, supplies, tools, and probably way too much caffeine…

We made the drive from Helena to Highwood to keep working on the cabin.

Everything was going according to plan(not really) until Montana decided to remind us who’s really in charge πŸ™„

We woke up to an unexpected blanket of snow the first night up there β€” because apparently β€œcabin renovation season” also means β€œsurprise winter survival mode.” β„οΈπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

More late nights, muddy boots, hauling furniture, and watching these cabins slowly come to life piece by piece. Stay tuned!

Part 2 coming next πŸ‘€
We’ll show you the work we did on the master bedroom β€” and the final result. πŸͺ΅πŸ”₯🏑

PART 2:
Gus’s first ride 🐴πŸ”₯

After surviving:

βœ”οΈ the fence disaster
βœ”οΈ the landscaping destruction
βœ”οΈ the Great Toilet Lid Incident of 2026
βœ”οΈ and getting completely rained out...
..BUT we got Gus' first ride in on the lawn! πŸ˜‚
This horse has such a good head on him ❀️ We are not going to want to give this one back! 😭

Thank you Matt Kegel for always sending us amazing horses(and mules) for us to fall in love with! Gus if definetely a new favorite 😎

There may have still been:

β€’ some questionable decisions
β€’ random moments of emotional support from the other horses
β€’ a little bit of β€œfigure it out as we go”
β€’ and enough chaos to keep things interesting πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚

But that’s kind of the beauty of horses and adventures like this.
Not every ride is polished. Not every weekend goes according to plan. Sometimes you’re building fences out of twine one minute and riding through the yard the next 🀣

More adventures, more chaos, and probably more property damage coming soon… stay tuned πŸ‘€
