Young Black Making a Difference! is a 501(c)3 non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization established to Encouraging Education to Empower a Generation of young people of color, as well as to celebrate accomplishments, encourage dialogue and analysis of the ways people of color are viewed in society and portrayed in the media. Young Black Making a Difference is dedicated to the empowerm
ent of people of color. We seek to build the self-esteem and self-worth of young men and women of color by changing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons, and helping them to empower themselves. Through mentorship, education, sports and public service, young men and women are offered access to enrichment programs and opportunities that place special emphasis on personal development. By speaking to the next generation in their formative years about issues of self-worth, goals, aspirations, and how to deal with haters, the organization reinforces the message that greatness is inside each of them, and that there is a code to success. Young Black Making a Difference has boldly taken on the crisis of our drop-out rate, recidivism rate and low graduation numbers specifically among African American students. We understand the need for positive connections and understand the need for positive self-images and a strong sense of awareness. WE BELIEVE IF THEY CHANGE WHO AND WHAT THEY KNOW, THEY WILL CHANGE WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY DO.
