Another video we received from Junior’s owner last night! ❤️

This is the same horse from our previous post, and it’s so awesome to see him cooling down and doing so well after everything he’s been through.

Getting updates like this from our clients is one of the best parts of what we do. Seeing a horse feeling good, comfortable, and happy makes all the hard work worth it!

THIS right here is why I love what I do! Helping horses feel better and move better!

There’s nothing better than getting a message from a client telling you how much of a difference your work has made for their horse.

Junior is a perfect example. He is navicular in both front feet. His owner sent me these videos and said that he hasn’t looked this good since she bought him, and that this is with no medication which they have had to give him every time they ride prior to me resetting him according to being navicular.

As a farrier, you don’t always get to see the long-term results of your work. You trim, shoe, make adjustments, and hope that you’re helping that horse feel and move the best they possibly can.

So when an owner takes the time to send you a video and tell you that their horse is moving better, feeling better, and looking better… that’s the kind of feedback that makes all the hard work worth it. Thank you to my clients for trusting me with your horses. I don’t take that responsibility lightly. ❤️

This horse got its foot caught in a fence when it was younger and unfortunately ripped a large chunk of the hoof away. Since then, the hoof has never grown back correctly. Over the years, it has continued to split and break off, making it difficult for the hoof to stay strong and stable.

Tonight, I gave it a good, balanced trim and applied Equipac adhesive to help stabilize and support the damaged area. The goal was to make sure the entire hoof is properly supported and give it the best chance to grow out stronger.

It’s always rewarding to see what a little time, patience, and the right hoof care can do!

Here’s a look at the complete process from trimming the feet to fitting, shaping, nailing on the new shoes and making sure everything is nice and smooth. With every horse being different, I make sure to take the time to do the job right and give each foot the attention it deserves.

Here are some pictures of the finished job tonight. A good trim is always about getting the hoof balanced, supporting the horse correctly, and setting them up for better movement. These feet were about 2 months out and needed some attention, and it’s always satisfying seeing the difference when the job is finished!

This horse I did is navicular in both front feet and had grown out 2 months. Customer stated that this horse did better with a PLR on one foot and a regular shoe on the other. Then just a regular trim on the backs. I also used pads and put Equipak with thrush medication to help protect the sole under the pads.

Hey everyone!
My name is Damien Young. I have been doing farrier work for over 20 years now and I am going to be accepting more horses in Caribou County, Franklin County, Bannock County, and Cache Valley and surrounding areas.

A little back story on me. I started shoeing when I was 12 with my grandpa. That is where I found my love my love for shoeing. I then continued my education through CSI and found the love for corrective shoeing.

Corrective shoeing is my specialty. That ranges from sore hoofs, cracked hoofs, crooked hoofs on c**t and crooked hoofs on older horses. I also love doing a good old normal shoeing on competitive, trail riding, old horses and c**ts.
