The Mountains Tested Them. TLP Red 11U Answered.
The boys took on Asheville, NC this past weekend, and they did not disappoint. One thing is for sure—Asheville wasn't ready for them.
This weekend wasn't just about baseball. It was about adversity, adjustments, resilience, and character. The boys faced challenges all weekend long, many completely out of their control, but they never stopped competing. They never stopped believing. And they never stopped fighting for each other.
Saturday's first game was a true test of who these boys are. Sometimes baseball throws things your way that you can't control, and the only choice is to keep battling. We came up one run short in the final inning, but the response from this team said everything about their character.
Game two on Saturday, the boys bounced right back with a big win. Huge congratulations to Dawson Bullard, who launched a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the second inning.
Their hard work earned them a spot in the Gold Bracket on Sunday.
Sunday morning was another nail-biter. But they pulled that game off.
In the semifinals, the boys got another shot at the team that handed them a one-run loss on Saturday. Good teams look for excuses. Great teams look for opportunities. TLP came ready to play. Chandler Mason crushed a two-run homer to center field in the top of the third, helping power the boys into the Championship Game.
The Championship Game was everything you'd want from tournament baseball.
Early on, things weren't going our way. But these boys never quit.
In the top of the sixth, TLP erupted for five runs on four hits to take a 6-3 lead. Then Dawson Bullard stepped into the box and delivered again, crushing a two-run homer to left field after a six-pitch battle.
The other team answered in the bottom half of the inning, sending the game into an International Tie Breaker. After a weekend full of close games, grit, and heart-stopping moments, TLP came up just one run short.
But don't let the final score fool you.
This weekend wasn't defined by a trophy.
It was defined by the way these boys fought through adversity. The way they responded when things got tough. The way they trusted each other, picked each other up, and continued to compete no matter what was happening around them.
There were home runs. There were strikeouts. There were championship game dance-offs, tic-tac-toe battles, swimming, great food, great families, and most importantly, there were lessons learned and memories made.
These boys have a habit of keeping every parent on the edge of their seat, and apparently, they don't believe in easy wins. But weekend after weekend, they continue to show what they're made of.
Congratulations to TLP Red 11U on an incredible weekend of baseball and a hard-earned Championship Runner-Up finish in Asheville!
