š Race Recap 6/20/26š
Steve is back in a UCAR so we got to get out there together again! Heās in a much faster car than his old one, so thereās room to grow and learn its potential.
Practice 1: Steve ran his first ever lap in the new car loose in turn 2 and spun it in turn 4. After that, he got some decent laps in, just trying to figure out what was working.
Practice 2: Diana ran this one and the car needed a jump before even going out. This was the first red flag we ignored. We had made some adjustments for handling and those seemed good but the car just seemed off. Spun it out towards the end and brought her in.
Qualifying: Diana didnāt spin out in turn 2! Car was still slower than I wanted. Ran a 19.9 which put me at P12. Steve spun in turn 2. Brought in a P15 start. Coming off the track after qualifying, Dianaās car wouldnāt start back up. Push started her and came back in. Car sat on the charger for awhile to prep for the race. Red flag number 2. š
Feature race: UCARs brought a lot of action, which was catastrophic for some other cars. We hate to see that for those teams. We both made some passes and Steve really dug in to get that car working for him. Throughout the race his times improved as he got more comfortable in the new car. That thing has potential as he figures it out. He came in P9. Dianaās car didnāt feel great, but we hung in there. During a lap 23 caution, Dianaās car cut off completely. Brought it to the apron and called for a tow truck. Official asked if I needed a push in. Spotter said to come in and get it checked. I said nope, push start me. Got her going and finished the race. Those last two laps the car just wouldnāt go. Coming out of 4 to take the checkered, we were 3 wide, one car being a lap ahead and one a lap behind. Neither one mattered, but I gave it everything and they blew by me. Finished P10. Car sounded rough for those last two laps but coming into pit road the ticking was bad. We got back to the pit and found absolutely ZERO oil on the dipstick. Weāll figure that out along with replacing the alternator and battery before the next race.
Huge congrats to Flying Flea Racing on that first win!! You earned it!
Thank you to Wesley Newell and Scott Summerford for spotting for us and as always to Jerad Satterly, David Newell and Laycee Hogge Racing
