This Spring season GC will be adding another new varsity sport to our roster - Girls Flag Football!!
Gloucester Catholic High School is proud to announce Darrel Chestnut as the new Head Coach of the Lady Rams Flag Football Team.
“Coach Dada” brings over 12 years of football coaching experience and currently serves as the QB Coach for GC Football. Known for his focus on fundamentals and player development, he’s dedicated to helping young athletes grow both on and off the field.
A father of three daughters, two of whom play flag football, Coach Chestnut has also been a driving force in expanding opportunities for girls in the sport — helping launch the Vineland Youth Girls Flag Football League two years ago.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead this program,” said Chestnut. “My goal is to help our players develop their skills, compete with pride, and enjoy the game.”
Athletic Director Ryan Murphy added “Darrel is a dynamic guy who has really bought in to the culture of in his time with our football program. His personality and passion for coaching, coupled with his background with the girls side of the sport, made him an easy hire.
I give freshman Janiya Lindsay and sophomore Peyton Sterling the credit for generating the interest in starting a team and bringing their proposal to Mr. Iacovone and me.
Mr. Iacovone’s philosophy as Principal of Gloucester Catholic has been that everything should be student driven, so that we can foster an atmosphere where all of our students feel like they’ve found their niche. The addition of Girls Flag Football is now another in a long list of varsity sports, clubs, facilities, and course offerings that have been added over the last few years to better the GC experience for our students.”
The Lady Rams will begin competing in March 2026 as a member of the West Jersey Football League Royal Division.
