Back in 1960, a great group of Seattle, Washington ladies decided that instead of staying home or just tagging along while their husbands shot s***t at the club, they too would learn the sport. What a great idea! So these ladies recruited Seattle shooter Stephen Morrissey to act as coach and instructor.

They named their crew the “Shoot em Up Society”, met once a week during the summer at the Redmond Gun Club (OR.), and learned the sport of s***t! It wasn’t long before they were competing admirably well and becoming a member of the group was an enviable ambition.

The original eight members included Mrs. Claude Bekins, Mrs. Donald Bowles, Mrs. Leroy Caverly, Mrs. James Heneghan, Mrs. Frank Henry, Mrs. Byron Lutterman, Mrs. Dean Parker, and Mrs. Tedrowe Watkins. Hats off to such a dedicated and motivated group 66 years ago. This photo of the group is from June 5th, 1960, showing Mrs. Tedrowe Watkins calling for her target.

Mother Nature did it again—another gorgeous day for our craftsmen to get out and get things done. Today’s mission: erecting the framework for the shelter over the firing line. With drills drilling, hammers hammering, and plenty of coffee fueling the crew, they knocked out another huge step forward.

A few more days like this, and all we’ll be waiting on is concrete and targets. Outstanding work, fellas—way to knock it out!

🔥 Progress Fueled by Determination! 🔥

Today, 20 dedicated volunteers—powered by caffeine, donuts, and pure grit—came together to knock out a major portion of Phase 2 of our 25-yard range project. With the help of a skidloader and auger, we dug the holes, set the posts, and officially laid the first steps toward completing the new structure.

This crew showed what happens when people show up ready to work, ready to push forward, and ready to build something that will last. 💪

Once the structure is finished, we’ll be rolling straight into Phase 3: (hopefully spring of 2026) concrete work—and with the momentum we built today, nothing is slowing us down.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated their time, tools, sweat, and skill. You went above and beyond to make our home away from home even better, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Onward and upward! 🚀🏗️
