Race days are looking much different for Matthews Racing lately. Having three drivers has been quite a change for us, but all in a good way. This is the first time the Jabs Construction, Inc. Virginia Minicup has visited Pulaski County Motorsports Park since 2023. We are so thankful to them for allowing us to join their show at the last minute when our previous race venue was cancelled! It was clear their fans were intrigued by our cars and drivers at the Meet and Greet!
Noah fired off pretty well in practice. Tyler was a bit loose, so some air pressure adjustments were a must. For Tim, the Mini Cup Racing Supply 74 car was edgy and needed a gear change. There's still some work to do on this car, but it's definitely headed in the right direction. Noah picked up the pole for qualifying with Tyler following close behind in second and Tim P4! Come race time, Tim started in the rear due to the series rookie rule, but picked up 3 spots to finish 5th! Noah and Tyler had a great battle on the last laps through lots of traffic with Tyler gaining the lead at one point. Tyler got loose coming out of turn 2 and traded back the lead to Noah who took his 8th checkered flag of the season! It was a great night of racing for our entire series!
We return to Orange County Speedway on September 19 with the SMART Modified Tour!
