Since we won’t be together next weekend we decided to celebrate Fathers Day a weekend earlier.

Dads got to play catch before the game, then included them in the pre game meeting and prayer, then boys presented them with baseballs with handwritten notes, and a stitched baseball with a note (pic below).

Another tournament and more hardware.

Blackhawks played in Glasgow at Beaver Trail in the Swing into Summer Tournament on 6/13. It was a long hot day but the boys did what they needed to and got to the Championship game.

Ultimately I think the heat got to both teams and everyone looked so drained. Blackhawks just tired out sooner but came away runner ups!

Blackhawks played in the Ricky Brooks & Eric Toth Memorial Tournament over the weekend.

Ended pool play 2-0 and the #1 seed. Eventually made it to the Championship where the boys just come up a little short.

Mother’s Day Weekend at the ball field. Boys looked a lot better today. Not the result we wanted but went 2-2 on the day. Just need to tighten up in few areas and we’ll be good to go.

After the 2nd pool play game the boys presented their moms with a signed baseball, a questionnaire they filled out, and a rose. However the moms also switched the boys walk up songs and it was hilarious! What a great group of ladies that show up and yes show out. Happy Mother’s Day Weekend ladies!

Player of the Game from Sunday was Jackson Hurt. It was his RBI that kept us alive and playing ultimately quick starting the fire the boys needed. It resulted in an 11 run inning.

Well this weekend didn’t go as planned. The Blackhawks went 0-2 in pool play but then fought hard in bracket play against the #1 seed but ultimately time ran out on a comeback for the ages.

Errors and a hitting slump plagued the boys in the 1st 2 pool play games. Losing to the Bucks 10-6 and the Canes 3-10. Then started out sluggish in bracket play against #1 seeded Ruff Ryders…. fast forward to the 4th inning. Coach Jesse had a team meeting before going up to bat and looked them in the eyes and told them you don’t score 5 runs here… it’s over. Well the switched finally flipped and the Blackhawks team that we all knew they were finally surfaced. Scoring 11 runs and were on the verge of pulling off a 12 point comeback led by Jackson’s RBI. Now 14-15 needing 3 quick outs to get to bat. We got 2 immediate outs then walked a batter and in the next batter with a 1-1 count they called game as they were the home team. Proud of the fight this team showed with their backs against the wall.

The boys will be back at it this weekend. In Glasgow, KY for the Battle of the Bats.
