Hi athletes, Unified Partners, and families!
Special Olympics Wyoming is making some changes to the State Fall Tournament because bowling has become so popular that there isnโt enough room for everyone.
๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒโ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป:
๐ณ We canโt take as many bowlers to State as we have in the past.
๐ The number of bowlers we can take now depends on how many athletes and Unified Partners are participating in ALL fall sports, not just bowling.
Based on last yearโs numbers, Gillette Schools would be able to take 27 bowlers to State. However, that would only happen if we also have 27 athletes and/or Unified Partners competing in soccer, bocce, and/or cycling.
๐ง๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ธ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ถ๐ ๐น๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐:
* If we want to take more bowlers, we also need more teammates playing the other fall sports.
* The more athletes we have participating across all fall sports, the more bowling spots we earn.
๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐! ๐
Gillette Schools athletes and Unified Partners are welcome to practice multiple fall sports! You can come to bowling practice and also practice soccer, bocce, or cycling to see what you enjoy.
Bocce is a sport that truly has a place for everyone. Ramps are available for athletes who need them, making bocce accessible to athletes of all ability levels.
We know many of you are wondering how weโll decide who will get to compete at Area and State in bowling. We are still working through those details and want to make sure the process is as fair as possible for everyone. As soon as we have a plan in place, weโll share it with all of our athletes and families.
Weโre also excited to share that weโve created a Gillette Schools Athlete & Family Handbook and a Travel Contract to help everyone know what to expect throughout the season. Our goal is to make sure everyone has the same information and understands what it means to be part of the Gillette Schools Special Olympics team.

Please join us for our team meeting on Monday, August 24, at 6:30 PM at Campbell County High School. Weโll review the Athlete & Family Handbook, the Travel Contract, and answer any questions you may have. More details will be shared as we get closer to the meeting.
