What happens next? Do you just stop working your shoulders? How does that affect your chest day?

Dealing with injuries can be a bit complicated. BUT it doesn’t have to be!!

Here are just some things, that doesn’t involve medical intervention or avoiding the exercises all together, that I do for some of my clients when they have issues with their shoulders.

In an age of technology, influencers and marketers, it’s easy to get caught up in the fads, trends and think they’re effective. However, this is not always the case!

>> Perfection is nonexistent in the world of fitness. Instead look to the progress of the weight being lifted, the lap time shrinking as you get faster, the body feeling and looking different.

>> Trends are fun, but that’s just it! They are trends. They won’t last and they don’t work for everyone. Focusing on the basics and progressing from there is where you’ll see the results.

>> In terms of “feeling it” from a workout is dependent of the individual! One person may be feeling drained from specific exercises while other are thriving from the same exercise. Whereas the same two people may experience different feelings from other exercises. No two people are the same in the gym.

>> Motivation is great at having but there is one thing that trumps motivation! DISCIPLINE Yes that’s right, discipline is where you’ll be consistent in the workouts, intensity, and showing up.

As someone who has hurt their shoulder a few times over, I never thought that I could be here.

Having a fear of something and letting that fear dictate your decisions is what will separate you from achieving what you want in life! Strength is not without fear. It’s recognizing that fear and leaning into it to drive you beyond and to grow.

Don’t let the fear of something hinder you from learning and growing in the direction you want.

Psalms 20:7-8
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.

Don’t let your fear state dictate how you assess your risk and set your risk tolerance.

Having the right support system is where you’ll find true growth.

Fear - A feeling of unease or apprehension.
Risk - The possibility of suffering from harm or loss of something.

Having a fear state is okay.
It’s what acts as our checks and balances in our day to day life.
What happens when we listen to this fear state all the time?
I’ll just say it now. NOTHING!
Nothing happens when we listen to our fear state even if we feel as though we are being safe and careful.

Why is fear SO powerful in our lives?

- Fight or Flight (THIS STILL AFFECTS US TODAY)

What kind of fear are we letting influence our lives that make us listen to it so often?

- Anxiety
- Rumination.

Will fear affect our ability to assess risk?

- Short answer YES!

Risk isn’t inherently bad. Assuming too much risk will result in an incredible outcome or a total failure.

How can we assess risk in a way that we are not being driven by our fear state but taking into account the fear we experience to accurately make a decision?

Risk Management - Taking into account what we’ve experienced, levied, and our desired outcome!
