This dance it is an invocation to the supreme power. The dancer starts the dance with Anjali, a salutation to the lord of dance Nataraja, the Guru, the musicians and the audience. Here she describes the various forms of Shiva who is the supreme God. The dance ends with the slokas where the dancer describes different Natya Shastra poses of Shiva which is from Nirvana Shatakam by Adi Shankaracharya.

Bhama kalapam is a dance drama has different parts. Pravesha daruvu is the first part that Sathyabhama describes herself to the audience. The dancer portrays, Satyabhama who is the wife of lord Krishna who is the beautiful and proud queen expresses herself in many moods.

Tarangam inspired by Krishna leela Tarangini of Narayana Theertha. In Tarangam dancer dances on a brace plate .
In the anupallavi part the dancer is expressing her talents for abhinaya by narrating a story of Krishana and his friends(the gopas). One day some of krisha’s best friends takes their cows for gazing. After a while they decided to rest for a while and lays down keeping their sacks containing buttermilk and curd rise on the side. Krishna see this from far away and decides to come and steal their food and does so. When the Gopas wakes up from their nap and are so annoyed seeing that Krishna stole their food and decide never to talk to Krishna again.
