𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟 𝗕𝗢𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 - 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬, 𝗔𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗟 𝟳

Admin did the right thing and has recommended Coach Heiser to be the Gettysburg Football Coach for the 2025 season.

Now it’s up to the School Board to approve.

Let’s pack the room again on Monday (4/7/25) at 7pm to show our support of Admin’s recommendation of Coach Heiser.

Speakers are still welcome to show support and to ask for the Board to approve the HR recommendations so that Gettysburg Football can get back to work!

(Please remember to sign in as a speaker upon arrival)

District job postings for both boys’ and girls’ wrestling head coaching positions…right on time!

As our GASD wrestling teams end their seasons, after accomplishing the following this year alone, our district should definitely (insert sarcasm) advertise the coaching staff positions. 🙄 THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED!

The board and admin will say this is just a formality - but this is embarrassing! Embarrassing for our coaches, teams and the district! Coaches and staff from other school districts, along with individuals who are active in the sports' community, see these postings and question what is going on with GASD’s current staff. It’s a bad look for Gettysburg.

2024/2025 Boys’ Wrestling:
• Coach Haines named District III AAA Coach of the Year (for the 4th time)
• Sent 4 wrestlers to the PIAA State Tournament
• Two PIAA State Tournament Medalists
• District III 3A Team Champions for the 5th time

2024/2025 Girls’ Wrestling:
• Girl’s Wrestling Coach, Reichart, named District III Coach of the Year
• Sent 6 wrestlers to the PIAA State Tournament
• Two PIAA State Tournament Medalist

And it’s no secret that there were discussions with Fairfield on a wrestling co-op. That day will likely come. When it does, will Coach Haines be told he is no longer the coach, like football? Will he need to reapply a second time and reinterview as the football coach is being required to do? Because we all now know that the co-op agreement prompts Gettysburg sports to then be considered a “new program.”

Live look inside the Admin building where the School Board, Admin and Athletic Director are all blaming and pointing fingers at each for the Head Football Coach mess. If you’ve been lucky enough to even receive a response from one of these groups then you know this is true.

If this is how the leadership team of our School District acts over something as simple as the Football Coach, then how can we even trust them to handle something more serious such as the 76 million dollar budget. How can we trust that they are making the correct decisions for our students when they are clearly ignoring these student athletes?

The PA Primary Election is on May 20th, 2025.
Please remember what these elected officials are doing to our student athletes and VOTE! Make sure that your voices are heard!

GASD Board Meeting: 2/3/25 – Watch 1:15 to 1:31

During the 2/3/25 school board meeting there was information presented to the board by the AD about the Fairfield co-op proposal. Board members asked questions and asked if there would be an additional informational session to address the concerns/questions.

Board President Hassinger (1:26) is quoted as saying, “I don’t want to have what the appearance of a sunshine issue or what we’re doing is something behind the scenes – so it would have to come back as information.”

Hassinger then asked the team of 3 board members (Dickerson, Seigman & Morris), along with the AD and Assistant Superintendent to meet with Fairfield and to do so quickly “….so this is on our agenda as an informational item at our next meeting,” said Hassinger.

After asking his own questions about if cheerleading and band should be included in this co-op, Mr. Hassinger closed by saying, “…we look forward to hearing something so we can move forward with any questions on an informational item at the next meeting.”

The next board meeting was held on 2/18/25. There was NOT an informational session at this meeting like Hassinger said there would be 2-3 times during the 2/3/25 meeting. Instead, the co-op was Action Item 16.4.

How does our board go from having questions and wanting more information from the committee, to then seemingly having the information they needed to vote very swiftly on the co-op WITHOUT the information being presented in public? Hassinger warned he didn’t want a sunshine violation, but this sure looks like one!

The letter below highlights the feedback from several 2024 graduates about Coach Heiser. This letter highlights the leadership philosophies taught to players by coach, the activities he plans for player recruitment (a college recruitment event planned for spring is now canceled thanks to this horrific situation), and the brotherhood bond he helps create.

As the players have learned, we all need to "stay out of the grey" -- meaning to avoid passivity and refuse to be bystanders -- as the board continues to ignore the public's support for Coach Heiser and pursue their agenda of using the co-op with Fairfield as their excuse to reopen the coaching position AFTER Coach Heiser was given the green light in Nov. Email the board/admin and attend the next board meeting on Mar 17th.

DO NOT BE QUIET!!! This is the time of year when players should be putting in the hard work to prepare for the season. The work does NOT start in August, it starts NOW with weightlifting sessions, early morning and Saturday throw arounds, and 7 on 7's -- all now canceled.

GASD School Board Meeting: Feb 18, 2025

Starting at the 48:20 mark you can view the public comments that were shared by both players and parents.

Truly listen to the voices of these student-athletes, and then ask yourself why GASD school board reopened the football coach position after hearing their testimonies. Why?

What "personnel issue" could be so bad that these players' have very opposite experiences and stories? What "personnel issue" could have possibly occurred post season after Heiser was given the go ahead to continue in November 2024, after the routine annual posting of his position?

From the outside looking in, the co-op gave the board a very convenient excuse to re-open the position.

Justine shared this student's letter that speaks to the leadership program that Coach Heiser developed, team bonding, team culture, and the overall positive role model Coach Heiser is to so many students and athletes. These positive activities, programs and experiences are ones the general public would have zero idea about. It is such a shame that his letter was only acknowledged by ONE recipient. While they may not be able to comment on the matter, they can easily respond "thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences." But only one could take the time to respond. Shameful!

READ EVERY SINGLE WORD HE WROTE!!

It should open everyone's eyes to the importance of a football coach who works in the school. And it should illustrate how winning games isn't the only important thing.

This letter received yesterday by current GASD Football families is the Administration’s and Board’s attempt to quiet the public. DON’T BE QUIET!

Why does entering a co-op with Fairfield need to spark “transition” and a “hiring process.” Wouldn’t a successful co-op need the stability we already had in our program and Coach Heiser? Our players, both past and present, have stood up and spoke publicly and/or written letters in support of Coach Heiser, but it has fallen on deaf ears.

They state the “partnership brings exciting opportunities” — maybe for the 8-10 Fairfield kids who otherwise wouldn’t have a team, but for OUR KIDS this is destroying the program our players loved and enjoyed and hurting the Coach they work hard for and respect.

The one thing this letter did have correct is that the Gettysburg Football program is indeed a source of pride in our community. And that is EXACTLY why we need to continue to speak up and keep advocating for OUR GETTYSBURG FOOTBALL PROGRAM and our coach!

Next board meeting will be held on March 17th.

03/06/2025

As we have now experienced our first day without lifting, please remember that Coach Heiser is NOT at fault for stopping all football activities. We’d like to remind the public that it is instead the board members and administration who are at fault. THEY ARE THE ONES who put Coach Heiser in an impossible situation. No one from the Board, Admin or HR has even spoken to him regarding the Co-op, the opening of his position or the "personnel matter" they keep referring to.

With the posting of the job and wording it as a “new position” the Board has effectively removed Heiser as coach. Anything he does now or has done since the close of the 2024 season, is/was on volunteer time. Since no one has spoken to him about ANY of this, he has no idea what his roles and responsibilities even are. Would he be covered under the District’s liability policy if a player were to injure himself during a football workout since he is just a "volunteer"? No one knows, because no one has communicated with him.

It cannot be stressed enough that the GASD School Board and Admin have placed Coach Heiser in this awful situation. He did not do this to himself. What did they think was going to happen? It’s quite apparent that they weren’t thinking at all and only acting on personal differences.

Tim Seigman is NOT paving the way for our students’ success when he has made it VERY well known within the community his personal dislike for Matt Heiser.

What does this stem from? Is it because he didn’t like when Heiser’s son was the starting QB as a freshman? Or that he didn’t like some play calls? Or, that he harbors ill will from his time in Gettysburg Youth Football? Tell us Tim, what is it?

Is he really doing his best to see all sides, as he claimed in his election campaign? Because the football team filled the board room during the last two meetings, only for the Head Coach position to be posted a day later, at the board's directive.

“Being a member of the school board…should be entirely about our children, their families, and our staff,” campaigned Seigman. As one of the architects of opening the Head Coach position, whose children is he really looking out for? Because it definitely is NOT the current student athletes who are now sidelined without their coach!

Tim, it’s time to bury the hatchet and do what’s right for these kids. It’s time to move past all the toxicity that you’ve continuously brought against Gettysburg High School Football.
