Recreational Soccer Program Information
The Ga***rd Soccer League, including the Extreme Select Soccer Club, is a member of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association and as such follows MSYSA rules and regulations except for those in which GSL has established a more strict policy than dictated by the MSYSA. GSL also recognizes the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association as the governing bodies of youth soccer and abides by their policies and practices.
Players are randomly placed on teams based upon age. U5 and U6 teams are co-ed. All other teams are gender specific. Placement is done via a computer program. U8 games are refereed by a coach/assistant coach/ or volunteer all of whom must have a valid Risk Management Card.
U10 – U14 games are refereed by USSF certified referees when possible. In 2009 nearly 90% of games had at least a center referee. In the event a referee is not available a coach, assistant coach, or volunteer will act as a non-partisan referee.


Ga***rd Soccer Travel League Information
Travel Soccer is a program for the committed, competitive and skilled soccer player who can play at a higher level of competition than recreational soccer. The purpose of a Travel Team is to assemble a team from U10-U12. The goal is for players to learn that balance and harmony are essential for success on the field as well as in life. There are fees for tournaments, referees, hotels and clinics to continue to improve the skill level of each individual player.

Select Team Tryout- Extreme
This is a team that travels throughout Northern Michigan playing in tournaments or other teams.

Girls & Boys U13 – U14
Teams play in both the fall and spring season. Tryouts will take place in June, at
the Alpine Youth Soccer Complex, after the conclusion of the MHSAA soccer
tournament. Dates and times to be determined.

Girls U15 – U18
Teams play during the fall season only. Tryouts will take place in June, at the
Alpine Youth Soccer Complex, after the conclusion of the MHSAA soccer
tournament. Dates and times to be determined.

Boys U15 – U18
Teams play during the spring season of the following year only. Tryouts will take
place in November after the conclusion of the MHSAA soccer tournament. Dates,
times, and location to be determined.
