“Lindsay Glavan played Division I NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pa. She graduated in 2005 having scored 63 points in 139 games as a Mercyhurst Laker and led the team as assistant captain in her junior and senior years. The Lakers were conference champions each year and made their NCAA Tournament debut in March 2005.

With support from others in October of 2023, Lindsay started an all-girls team, Garfield Heights Bulldogs, in Garfield Heights, Ohio. They compete against both all-girls and co-ed teams, with a majority of games played locally. Players from the Bulldogs Girls Ice Hockey Team have gone on to join competitive teams in the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League, represent their high school teams in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and play for the Gilmour Gladiators Tier II girls program.

In addition to coaching, Lindsay advocates for girls hockey. She understands the power of all girls teams to positively shape a girl’s hockey experience, confidence and leadership qualities. She believes in the importance of grassroots efforts to inspire action from those with power to make sustainable change for local girls hockey infrastructure. “

Well a lot has taken place since our last post. Several players from our team attended the fantastic Team USA vs Team Canada game at Rocket Arena in early November. Then we traveled to Columbus and played Columbus Ice Hockey Club for our first ever road trip. In late November we started our slate of 11 exhibition games against Peewee co-ed CSHL teams. The Garfield girls are loving playing teams from the CSHL. I cannot wait until there are more all girls teams participating in the league. Here’s a couple snaps from our CSHL games.

Wow do I love this movie! One of our players and her little sister going for a skate. Our Bulldogs and Cleveland girls got to skate with Team USA last night and bring friends with them who might not be hockey players yet. Hockey is about community and welcoming each other. Thank you USA Hockey for coming to Cleveland! Your players are wonderful ambassadors and give us a chance to share the game together. We look forward to watching the game at Rocket Arena on Nov 6 versus Canada! Mid-American Hockey

Happy Halloween from the Bulldogs! Last night we dressed up as Hilary Knight, high school hockey players, Thing 6 and Thing 7, a PWHL player, an axolotl, ketchup, a Westside Siren, a hockey school kid and a red white and blue superhero!

Best of all we got a high energy practice in to prep us for trick or treating. 🍭💪

Did you know the Bulldogs host 3 girls hockey scrimmages per month, in addition to our regular games? These games are open to girls born in 2011-2014.

We are grateful for support from the Lady Barons, Cyclones, and Maple Leafs players who joined us last night!

Together we are supporting local girls hockey in Northeast Ohio, one game at a time.

Our Bulldogs were putting in work today at practice before our game tomorrow.

We are celebrating World Girls Ice Hockey Weekend today and tomorrow and love seeing updates from our girls hockey friends all over Cleveland and in Mid-American Hockey.

The Bulldogs hosted CCYHA Girls Hockey Development 12U for a pair of games last Saturday. It was the first meeting in program history of our teams. We played 2 hard fought games and look forward to playing them in Columbus later this season.
