HGMS is proud to announce that Ava Garcia has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Kansas High School Activities Association’s Citizenship Award. This distinguished honor recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional citizenship within their school community, making a positive impact and helping to create a better environment for all.
Garcia has proven herself to be a positive contributor across four sports: Volleyball, Wrestling, Basketball, and Soccer, which she participated in both 7th and 8th grade. Serving as a team captain, Garcia recently guided the Lady Hawks Soccer team to a Middle School Western Athletic Conference (MS-WAC) league championship. Her hard work and determination was also displayed on the hardwood this past season, where she helped the 2026 Girls Basketball team to a MS-WAC Co-Championship title. Garcia was also a member of the 2025 MS-WAC Girls Wrestling championship team, the first title in the program's history.
Known for her infectious positive attitude and unwavering encouragement of her peers, Garcia’s impact reaches far beyond athletics. She maintains a 4.0 GPA and is an active leader on campus, contributing to both Hawk Media and the HGMS Student Leadership Team.
