We’re excited to announce our upcoming Nets One Up Pre-Tryout Workout and our official 10U Girls Tryouts!

👧 WHO: 2nd–4th Grade Girls | Ages 8–10
🏀 EXPERIENCE: New or experienced players are welcome!

Nets One Up is a chance for players to get in the gym, develop their skills, compete, and experience what Garden City Nets basketball is all about BEFORE tryouts.

This is NOT a tryout.
It’s an opportunity to prepare for one. 💪🏀

We are looking for dedicated girls who are ready to learn, work, compete, and grow as basketball players.

Our roster will be limited to 12 players this season.

Whether your daughter is picking up a basketball for the first time or already has experience, we want to meet her!

That’s the mindset. 🧠🏀

At the GC Nets, we’re not chasing perfection. We’re chasing progress.

Every practice is an opportunity to:
• Get one shot closer to becoming a better shooter.
• Make one better decision.
• Defend one possession harder.
• Learn something new.
• Push yourself past yesterday’s version of you.

Because the biggest competition isn’t the player standing across from you.

It’s the player you were yesterday.

Keep working. Keep learning. Keep competing.

Stare into that mirror and know that the only competition is you, so push yourself to your limit and shatter those limits, expectations, and goals that you have set for yourself.

Be better today than you were yesterday.

Try this:

• 🏀 Dribble with your eyes up
• 👀 Find a teammate or open space
• 🧠 Don’t stare at the ball
•⚡ Be ready to pass, drive, or shoot

‼️🏀3 THINGS YOUNG HOOPERS CAN WORK ON AT HOME 🏀‼️

1. BALL HANDLING🏀

Work on your right and left hand—even if you only have a few minutes. Quick, at the waist, and pound dribbles.

2. FOOTWORK 👟

Practice your jump stops, pivots, and getting into a strong athletic stance. Use your body to help get positioning for you to be able to create.

3. SHOOTING FORM 🎯

Start close to the basket and focus on balance, hand placement, and finishing with good follow-through. The best shooters start to realize the small details in their shooting form to work on and polish but they also never overthink their shot and trust it.

You don’t need a gym to get better. You don’t need to spend thousands to get the work done. A driveway, sidewalk, or small space can be enough to get some work in.

Little improvements every day add up.
