I may be small, but my dreams are mighty.
My barrel racing journey started with a little Hackney cross named Hooey who had a whole lot of spice. My dad told me he wouldn't buy me a barrel horse unless I proved I could break the buck out of him. One day, Hooey bucked me off so hard I didn't want to get back on. I was only six years old. My mom put me in the round pen and told me to climb back in the saddle. I got back on, rode out his buck, and from that day on, I wasn't afraid anymore. I finished breaking him to ride, learned to run barrels on him, and proved to my dad that I was serious.
That's when we bought Boosie.
A lot of people think Daddy bought me a finished barrel horse and everything came easy after that. The truth is, Boosie challenged me in ways I never expected. She was bigger, faster, and far more experienced than I was. I had to learn how to ride a horse with that much talent while growing into the rider she needed me to be.
At first, she would duck the second barrel. It took time, patience, and a lot of practice, but together we worked through it. Just when we thought we had it figured out, she went lame. It was heartbreaking, and we struggled to find the cause. Then we were blessed to meet our veterinarian, Dr. Michael Porter. With his help, and the guidance of incredible people who have encouraged me and taught me so much about competing at a higher level, we discovered Boosie simply needed corrective shoeing.
Every obstacle we've faced has taught me something. I've learned that barrel racing isn't just about running fast it's about horsemanship, patience, determination, and never giving up on your horse.
Even through all the challenges, Boosie and I have earned Top 10 placings in NBHA competition. Those accomplishments mean so much to me because they weren't handed to us. We worked for every second, every run, and every milestone together while I was learning how to compete at this level.
Outside of the arena, I work just as hard. I do my chores every day, and I take care of all of my horses myself. I know that success isn't built only on competition day it's built in the early mornings, the late evenings, and the quiet moments when no one is watching. That's where champions are made.
I know I'm still learning, and I know there's a long road ahead of me. But I also know that hard work, faith, grit, and determination will take me farther than talent alone ever could. My dream is to continue growing with Boosie, keep climbing in the NBHA standings, and one day ride into the arena at The American Rodeo.
I may be small, but my dreams are mighty. No matter how many obstacles stand in my way, I will keep showing up, putting in the work, believing in my horses, and chasing those dreams until they become reality.

I do not own the rights to the music.

As tomorrow grows near I know I have said my prayers and have tried my hardest to make sure I am prepared for what tomorrow brings. Though only seconds in the arena it’s hours of time and dedication outside of the arena. Wish us luck for our first year and run at the NBHA Youth and Teen world.
