Good morning Lake Mead, I finally went out to check out the spot where my old friend Alicia stood proud for years before NPS removed her.

I didn’t get a chance to visit after the park service reopened Government Wash. They graded proper roads and campsites. No more free spirit boondocking. Rules, regulations and reservations are the norm now, in addition to seasonal closures.

With the summer road closure in effect, I had to start out before dawn to avoid hiking the triple digit temperatures. I cheated a bit as well by using my scooter to get as close as I could.

If Alicia was still there she would have been higher and dryer than ever before. The water level is about 5 feet lower than the previous record low in 2022.
