Kids are capable of hard things. 💪

Today Levi showed himself just that—taking on his second-ever Spartan race and walking away with 2nd place! 🥈🔥

But the medal isn’t really the point.

Movement gives kids opportunities to challenge themselves, build confidence, and discover what they’re capable of. And it doesn’t have to be a Spartan race—run, climb, play, ride, hike, lift…just MOVE.

High school athletes, this is for you too. And adults? Definitely you. 😉

At Fuquay Varina Fitness, we believe movement is about more than getting fit. It’s about showing up for yourself, doing something hard, and sometimes surprising yourself along the way.

Not for a medal.
Not for anyone else.

For your health. Your confidence. Your well-being.

Way to show up for yourself, Levi. 💪🥈

What a picture to remember. ❤️

Judah, just five years old, had a rough start, but he kept going. He needed a hug from Mom at the top of that long hill, and that’s okay. Even when we’re capable of doing hard things, sometimes we still need someone beside us reminding us that we can.

And apparently that hug worked. 😂 Once he hit that final downhill stretch, he took off! He ran the whole way to the finish, passing one person after another and had me nearly sprinting just to keep up.

What a fun kid—and such a good reminder that you can do hard things, but you don’t have to do them alone.

So proud of everyone who showed up and challenged themselves that day, whether it was 2 miles or 13.1. Every finish is worth celebrating. 🏁

Shoutout to the Parkersburg News and Sentinel for capturing this sweet memory for us. 🌻

Every kid crossed the finish line. ❤️ And THAT was the win today.

This wasn’t really about how fast they ran or where they finished. It was about giving them a little taste of competition, letting them challenge themselves, and experiencing that feeling of “I did it.”

That feeling builds confidence. And confidence helps build good habits.

It doesn’t have to be running. It doesn’t even have to be walking. Find something active that challenges you, makes you feel accomplished, and keeps you coming back for more.

For our crew today, it happened to be a 2-mile finish line—and we are so incredibly proud of every one of them. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️❤️

Build the habits. Build the confidence. Celebrate the finish lines—whatever yours may look like.

There’s something pretty special about getting the whole crew out for a local 2-mile race. ❤️🏃‍♂️

This was one of the first races where we started teaching the kids a little about pacing, strategy, and healthy competition. Are we trying to raise the next generation of runners? Not necessarily. What we are hoping to pass down is generational health and wellness.

Run, walk, hike, lift, play a sport—movement doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. The goal is simply to build habits that make health and longevity a natural part of life, and those habits can start at any age.

That’s a big part of what we believe at Fuquay Varina Fitness. Get outside. Find a local race or community event. Bring the family. You don’t have to be fast, and you don’t even have to run.

Build the connection. Build the habits. Let the kids see you doing it, too. ❤️

Healthy families aren’t built in a day. They’re built one little choice—and sometimes one finish line—at a time.

⚽️ Fuquay Varina Fitness took a fun trip back onto the soccer field! ⚽️

We had such a great time participating in the alumni soccer game with the boys JV and varsity teams. The alumni group included graduates from as far back as 1996, Tyler and me representing the Class of 2008, and several younger graduates too.

Apparently, there was still a little soccer left in all of us because the alumni came away with the win! 😄

All jokes aside, the boys played hard, brought great energy, and made it such a fun evening. We are excited to see what both the boys and girls teams accomplish this year. They have so much potential, and we truly believe they are going to have a phenomenal season.

Wishing both teams a season full of growth, teamwork, confidence, and plenty of great memories. Go make it a great one! ⚽️💪🏼

Most people think training ends when the workout is over.

For us, that’s only half the story.

Strength isn’t just built with barbells, dumbbells, and running shoes. It’s built hauling wagons full of potatoes, harvesting carrots with the kids, planting garlic before the rain, carrying buckets, shoveling compost, and spending long days working the land together.

Then comes the other half…

Healthy food.

The strongest body in the world can’t outrun poor nutrition. Movement and nourishment were always meant to work together.

At Fuquay Varina Fitness, we help people become stronger, healthier, and more capable.

At Shiloh Ridge Homestead, we’re pursuing the same mission from the other direction—growing nutrient-dense food, teaching our children where it comes from, and building a life that’s sustainable for generations.

These aren’t two separate stories.

They’re one.

Train with purpose.
Eat with purpose.
Live with purpose.

Welcome to the other side of our family’s journey. We hope you’ll enjoy following along as we share what we’re learning—from the gym… to the garden… and everything in between.

Morning sunlight. Family time. Movement. ☀️❤️

Some of the best habits aren’t built in a gym — they’re built in the everyday moments.

A morning run with Dad. Little feet trying to keep pace. Laughter between the miles. Memories being made without even realizing it.

This field has slowly morphed into more than just open land. It’s become our own little cross-country course, complete with mountain biking trails for practice, space to move, breathe, grow stronger, and simply be together.

And honestly? I’m willing to bet that even when sheep are grazing out here one day, the purpose will still be dual-purpose.

Fitness. Homesteading. Family.

To us, they’re not separate things. They’re woven together. Movement teaches discipline. Homesteading teaches purpose. Family reminds us why it all matters.

Raise kids who see movement as joy, not punishment. Raise families who understand that health isn’t something separate from life — it’s simply part of how we live it.

These are the moments that matter. ❤️🏃‍♂️🌱

Success looks different for everyone.

Sometimes it’s a PR. Sometimes it’s a school record. Sometimes it’s confidence, consistency, grit, or simply learning to believe in yourself again.

Whether we’re working with an individual client or a full team, training is never just about workouts — it’s about growth. It’s about showing up, trusting the process, learning what you’re capable of, and watching hard work turn into something meaningful.

This season has been especially fun to witness with so many of our student athletes. Personal bests, breakthrough moments, school records, leadership, resilience, and JOY — the kind that comes from seeing effort finally pay off.

We are incredibly proud of this group of students and thankful to play even a small role in their journey. What a privilege it is to watch young athletes grow, succeed, and experience this exciting season of life.

Keep chasing big goals — this is only the beginning. 👏

Coach by title.
Dad by calling.
Training the team… and raising one too. 💪🏽🏃‍♂️

Some athletes get workouts.
Some get front-row seats to the journey.

Some moments deserve to be paused, honored, and truly taken in… this is one of them.

Dad/Grandpa Bob has been awarded the Albert Gallatin Award by the United States Department of the Treasury — the highest distinction the department can present.

This honor is reserved for individuals whose leadership and service have made a lasting impact on our nation’s financial system.

But what makes this moment even more meaningful to us is this:
The recognition he is receiving publicly is the same greatness we have known and experienced privately every single day.

This world holds great people — and he is one of them.
Not just because of what he has done in service to this nation, but because of how he has lived, led, and served at home.

The picture says it all — coming in from riding the tractor, working hard, showing up the same way he always has. The same quiet, steady, impactful service he gave to this country is the way he has always given to his family.

This may be a national honor… but to us, it simply confirms what we’ve always known.

Dad/Grandpa Bob — we see you, we honor you, and we are so incredibly proud of you. 🤍
