Race recap from day 2 at the Liberty Shootout
First off Happy Memorial Day!
Had 10 karts registered for jr1 and Ryder drew a 55 which put him starting 4th in his heat. Went out for hot laps and it started raining. After about a 3hr rain delay they got the track ready to go. In the heat Ryder found his groove and finished 2nd, he was running the leader down and caught the wall coming out of 4 to the checkered and ripped the rf off. We busted our butts to get him back out for the main where he started 3rd, going thru turns 1 and 2 passing for second he got into the second place car while that car was either spinning or going from the middle to the bottom, they sent Ryder to the back for rough driving and that’s where the fun began. Someone lit a fire under his butt and he hit the high side and was moving up thru the field in a hurry he was up to 4th or so when the top side started fading and he fell back to about 8th. He saw a gap going down the back stretch and shot it to get back down low and going into turn 3 passing for 5th or so and his nose got chopped and he got stuck together with that car. So they black flagged Ryder for rough driving and parked him in the infield. Can’t say that we agreed with the calls and some of the other parents stopped us and said they didn’t either but that’s part of racing. We’re super proud of Ryder and how he shook off the call that was made and continued driving the crap out of the kart. Thank you to everyone who came by and asked if we needed any help fixing the car or told Ryder how good he was doing.
