Today, we remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our country. Because of their sacrifice, we have the freedom to step onto the softball field, wear our school colors with pride, and play the game we love alongside our teammates, coaches, friends, and families.

Every practice, every bus ride, every inning, and every moment spent representing Beth Center is possible because of those who fought to protect the freedoms we sometimes take for granted.

This Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who never made it home and remember that their sacrifice reaches far beyond the battlefield.

It lives on in communities like ours, in the opportunities we have, and in the simple privilege of getting to do what we love every season.

To all who served and sacrificed, thank you. We will never forget.

Beth Center Lady Dawgs Softball recognized some special players this morning during BCHS Awards Day for their efforts throughout the season.

Most Valuable Player — Kendall Welsh
Kendall put in exceptional effort this season and truly took one for the team, consistently moving from her shortstop position into the circle. She embraced that sacrifice with a positive attitude and handled the transition seamlessly all season long. At the plate, she was a steady presence and came through in clutch situations when we needed runners on base.

Most Improved Player — Bella Stepp
Bella was a wall behind the plate this season. As our primary catcher, she showed up and held it down game after game, shutting down runners attempting to steal and leading confidently behind the dish. Offensively, she consistently sent balls to the fence and over it. The growth between seasons has been incredible to watch, and we’re so here for it.

True Grit Award — Keira Lamp
The True Grit Award is given to the player who hustles, stays coachable, fights through adversity, supports the team, and gives everything she has every game and every practice. Whether she’s tracking balls down in the gap, stepping into the infield to help at shortstop, or driving in runs with key RBIs, Keira has remained positive and team focused throughout it all. She consistently puts the team first, competes hard, and carries herself in a way that earns the respect of those around her.

All three award winners represent our junior class and serve as team captains. We’re incredibly proud of their effort, leadership, and presence both on and off the field.

Being a Lady Dawg means bringing the same work ethic and commitment to everything you do… on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.

This week, juniors Kendall Welsh, Bella Stepp, Keira Lamp, and Olivia McNett traveled to Penn State University for the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Meet.

As a program, we will always take pride in athletes who push themselves to succeed in every area of life. The dedication these girls show in the classroom deserves to be celebrated just as much as what they do on the softball field.

We are proud of the way they continue to represent Beth Center and Lady Dawgs Softball through their hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence.

Tonight hurts. There’s no sugarcoating that. A walk-off loss in the bottom of the seventh is the kind of ending that stays with you for a while.

But any time you get the chance to extend a season, whether it’s for a minute, an hour, or one more inning, it’s a blessing. And these girls earned every extra moment they got together.

The scoreboard says 4-3. That’s the official story. But it doesn’t tell the whole story. It doesn’t show the fight, the grit, the energy in the dugout, the way these girls showed up tonight and played one hell of a softball game. It doesn’t show the heart they poured onto that field for seven innings.

This team represented Beth Center with pride all season long. They battled. They believed in each other. They played for the name across their chest and for the people beside them.

Sometimes the game doesn’t end the way you hoped, but that never takes away from what was accomplished.

We are incredibly proud of the Lady Dawgs, their coaches, and the season they gave this community. Thank you for the memories, the effort, and the fight until the very last play.

We love you, Lady Dawgs.

For one night, the cleats, dirt, and jerseys were traded in for heels, dresses, and prom pictures.

Pretty special getting to watch our juniors make memories outside of the softball field, and even better that they got to spend the night with their coach there as a chaperone.
