Tsunami ended our first week back at practice with a fun night watching the FredNats beat the Wilson Warbirds 24-2! Our swimmers got to relax, unwind, and hang out with friends away from the pool. There were (a lot!) of foul balls, peanuts, and ice cream 🍦. It was a wonderful night that ended in fireworks 🎆. What a great way to start off the 2026-27 short course season! Welcome back, swimmers! 🌊

Congratulations to our Tsunami swimmers who competed this past weekend at the Virginia Age Group Championships at Liberty University!

To qualify for individual and relay events, swimmers had to achieve the required championship time standards throughout the regular season—a tremendous accomplishment in itself.

Levi Auker, Caspian Hopewell, Tyler Tiberio, Luke Mersiovsky, and Tripp Wile represented Tsunami with outstanding performances in their individual events.

In the 11–12 age group, Levi swam a personal-best time in the 50 Freestyle to place 31st. Caspian competed in the 50 Freestyle and earned a 26th-place finish in the 50 Breaststroke.

In the 13–14 division, Tripp competed in three individual events, highlighted by a 22nd-place finish in the 50 Backstroke. Tyler raced in four individual events, dropping 1.3 seconds for a personal best in the 100 Breaststroke and finishing 28th. Luke competed in six individual events, earning four appearances in the Virginia Swimming Finals. He set new Tsunami team records in both the 100 Backstroke, where he finished 8th, and the 200 Backstroke, where he placed 7th.

What made this championship meet even more special was that Tsunami qualified not one, but two relay teams! Together, the relays earned an impressive 76 team points.

The 11–12 Boys relay team of Luke Field, Caspian Hopewell, Johnny Fiefhaus, and Levi Auker finished 10th in the 400 Medley Relay, 12th in the 200 Medley Relay, and 11th in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The team also swam personal-best times in both the 400 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay.

The 13–14 Boys relay team of Jacob Field, Tyler Tiberio, Tripp Wile, and Luke Mersiovsky showed incredible resilience. After overcoming a difficult start to the meet, they finished 16th in the 200 Medley Relay before placing 10th in the 200 Freestyle Relay, where they set a new Tsunami team record!

Congratulations to all of our swimmers, coaches, and parents on an incredible Virginia Age Group Championship meet. Your hard work, perseverance, and dedication were on full display, and we couldn't be more proud of all you accomplished!

Tsunami swimmers had a great weekend racing in the Hanover Storm Surge Open this past weekend, earning finals swims, scoring points, and posting some huge personal bests. 🌀🥇

Luke Mersiovsky led the way, breaking the Tsunami team record in the Boys 13-14 200m Backstroke, winning 1st place. He also finished 2nd in the 100m Backstroke, 4th in the 200m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle, and 9th in the 50m Butterfly.

Johnny Fiefhaus finished 1st in the Boys 11-12 200m Butterfly and 11th in the 100m Butterfly.

Henry Olson finished 3rd in the Boys 15&O 100m Breaststroke, 9th in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke, and 13th in the 200m Freestyle.

Annie Furrow finished 4th in the Girls 15&O 200m Butterfly.

Trevor Tiberio finished 4th in the Boys 15&O 50m Backstroke, 14th in the 200m IM, and 16th in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke.

Adrian Keyser finished 7th in the Boys 15&O 400m IM and 15th in the 400m Freestyle.

Liam Morgan finished 11th in the Boys 15&O 400m IM and 100m Breaststroke.

Tyler Tiberio finished 11th in the Boys 13-14 50m Breaststroke and 50m Butterfly, 13th in the 50m Backstroke, and 16th in the 50m Freestyle.

Tommy Gavenonis finished 12th in the Boys 11-12 200m Breaststroke.

The weekend was packed with big improvements. Sarah Bender dropped nearly 15 seconds in her 100m backstroke, Tommy Gavenonis and Abigail Lannoye each cut nearly 30 seconds in their 200m breaststrokes, Aiden Jones dropped over 10 seconds in his 100m freestyle, Carter Theado dropped more than 7 seconds in his 50m backstroke, and Liam Morgan took off more than 90 seconds in his 400m freestyle.

One of the most impressive aspects of the meet was watching our 15&O swimmers compete against a field that included collegiate and post-grad athletes. Every finals swim, point scored, and personal best was earned against some very fast competition.

Great job, Tsunami! The hard work continues to pay off.

Wish our Tsunami swimmers the best as they compete in the Wi******er Long Course Invitational June 12-14!! 🌊
