💚Update on 2026/2027 Season🖤

Happy to announce that Tia Wright and her assistant, Gilda Gullickson, will be coaching the Maryland Express 13u team for the 2026/2027 season.

Tia was a pitcher/infielder for SHHS (state final runner up 1998). She walked on to UMBC D1 softball as a pitcher/outfielder for 1 year before moving closer to home and finishing career with Shepherd University - Pitcher. She has been a pitching coach for several college commits for the past 10 years. She coached at Smithsburg High School for the past 3 years. She is ready to concentrate on developing girls at a younger age to be able to be ready to make their high school varsity teams early! She is committed to increasing basic fundamental knowledge, softball IQ and fun/encouragement for these young ladies.

Tia & Gilda will be holding two open practices this weekend:

Saturday, July 25th from 11:00-1:00 at Ballenger Creek Park (field 5) in Frederick, MD

Sunday, July 26th from 1:00-4:00 at Callas Field, 11735 White Hall Rd Smithsburg, MD

We are looking for an experienced head coach to take over 13u team next year. We are currently a 12UB team with a 30-19-2 record, based in Frederick, MD. We are headed to the USSSA 12u open nationals in Ocean City, MD next week.
