Dear FSC Families,
We are excited to start our 2nd season on our new soccer fields! On Saturday, August 15th we had the ribbon cutting ceremony at Atoka. It was a great day to see some of our soccer families gathered with elected officials, FSC Board Members, and ATOKA board members. It was a day to celebrate what a few people with a vision can do when they come together with a singular goal. We are reaping the benefits of their dream to have a facility for our youth to play sports and grow in character.
Franklinton Soccer Club is eager to continue growing our organization, but we are facing the same issue each season. We need VOLUNTEERS! We are a small board and most board members are actively coaching or helping manage other teams. Just like you, we are juggling multiple children, jobs and other commitments. We are writing this to you in hopes that our transparency with the issues we face will encourage you to get involved.
We are specifically looking for coaches for ages groups U8, U9, and U10. We will assist you throughout the entirety of the season with training, organizing, and clear expectations. We would be thrilled to have one volunteer to be head coach and some assistant coaches. Soccer can be an intimidating sport to coach for our local community, because most of us did not grow up playing. If you did not grow up playing soccer and you don’t fully understand the game, You are still great for the job! The majority of our current coaches and board members were just like YOU at one point.
Most of the bigger soccer clubs around us are Recreational and Competitive (LCSL). Recreational soccer is always volunteer based coaching. Occasionally there are a few civic minded individuals without children who step up to help out, but primarily it is parents. WE NEED YOU! Coaching courses are available online through the LSA website, as well as in person a couple times a year. If we continue to struggle with finding coaching volunteers, we will have no choice but to drop our Recreational division and focus solely on transitioning to a competitive based group. In this scenario, we would only focus on the age groups and players that have the skill and parent participation to join the Louisiana Competitive Soccer League. While working towards competitive teams is our goal, we would be saddened to have to loose our recreational teams also. Please consider stepping up to help our club, children, and town succeed.
Please reach out if this letter has led you to join our FSC Family, it will be FUN and it will be REWARDING! You can contact President Bill Gray or any board member if you are interested. We are eager to hear from you!
Best,
FSC Board@

ℹ️ The official 2026–27 Age Group Matrix has been released following the national transition to school-year age group formation. Beginning Aug. 1, 2026, age groups will run Aug. 1 - July 31.

🤝 The shift away from the current birth year (Jan. - Dec.) format reflects a collaborative decision across national youth soccer organizations to better align players socially and developmentally.

ℹ️ We encourage all parents, players, and organization members to review the updated matrix as planning begins for the 2026–27 seasonal year.

🤷‍♀️ Questions about individual team formations should be directed to your home club. For example, to play in the Franklinton Soccer Club a child must be born by August 1, 2020.

Our U6 is the youngest group and are in this age range.
