We traveled to Oklahoma for the Oklahoma Thunder Freedom 250 to celebrate King’s 9th birthday, spend time with friends, and enjoy the opportunity to be around several incredible German Shepherd Dogs.

What a weekend it turned out to be!

King opened Speed Retrieve with a 6.235 and followed it up with a 6.153, his fastest run of the season. My reaction time on this run was .003 in the box, giving him the best opportunity I could. King did the rest.

The best part? Those two runs earned King his invitation to the 2026 DockDogs World Championships in Speed Retrieve! 🏆

At 9 years old, he continues to amaze me. Every weekend with this incredible dog is a gift, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate his birthday.

Just reviewed the dueling rankings going back to 2020. I had no idea my boy was top ranked GSD all these years in dueling! 😮

Almost 9 years old and still fighting 💜

King stopped the clock at a 6.331 today in Speed Retrieve, earning 3rd Overall and 1st place in Nitro!

A couple weeks ago in Florida he ran a 7.205, so to see him shave .874 seconds off after getting back into underwater treadmill work has me beyond excited. The old man still has it!

So proud of this dog and his heart.

King has always been a bit slower in Dueling Dogs compared to Speed Retrieve. He likes to run wide, especially in lane 1, and has always done things his own way.

But somehow, that same heart and determination keeps him right where he belongs…
Top ranked GSD. We’ll take it for now, knowing there are probably some other GSDs close to getting their 5 scores and joining the rankings soon.

At almost 9 years old, I’m just incredibly proud of him.

The next GSD in Dueling Dogs sits at #98… 💜
