So with my Pine to Palm 100 training winding down and the race this weekend, I’ve had a buncha folks ask me what do I do to prevent blisters. This here's the magic sauce! 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬®️]

I’ve been using it for about a year and a half now and it has never let me down. One application at last year‘s Rio Del Lago 100 and I had zero hotspots or blisters. It’s thick and waterproof and will outlast you and your run. Promise.

The stuff works fantastic on any area of your body that may become irritated by your clothing or gear. One of our athletes used it to keep his bear spray from chafing his hips on a 58 miler in Alaska last weekend. I always have two or three single use packs in my vest on long training runs or big races in the event something I didn’t anticipate rears its ugly head.

Ladies if you got irritating seams on your leggings or sports bra give it a shot!

And lastly this God fearin' company is fantastic. 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬®️]' customer service is off the charts. And they’re huge supporters of our military, law-enforcement, and first responders, which y'all know is a big deal to me. I know this. I’ve seen it and experienced it firsthand.

"Rest day?  Where is my rest muscle and how do I train it??" 😆

We waste so much oxygen talking about going hard, being hard, jacking weight, stacking miles, etc. What we fail to broach is rest, or recovery.

Perhaps you're afraid you'll lose some fitness. Or it could be you're chasing that endorphin and dopamine high.

But when you rest, your body adapts to the stress load it's been under that day, or that week. The muscle tissue repairs itself. It's literally growth. 

So whatever silly reason you have not allow your body to properly recover, grow up and get over it 🤙🏽

Saturday morning these two baddies ran their first ever marathon distance. Two 13 mile loops around town

My super cooll wife wanted to test herself. She sets one hell of an example for our kids.

James you're pretty cool too 😉

And I had the raddest time running along side em! They're now official .5%ers 🤙🏽

Years ago she found cross country. That planted a seed in my own head to start running.

Maggie just recently joined the College of the Redwoods Track and Cross Country team.

I'm biased, but I think thats pretty damn cool 🤙🏽

I remember glossing over that part of David Goggins' book when he educated the uneducated world on the psoas muscles. 😆

This Friday's chiropractic appointment jarred my memory.

The psoas is found in the lower lumbar region and carrys on through the pelvis, connecting to the top of the femur.  When injured, weakened, or shortened, it can cause numerous problems In my hapless case, lower back pain.

20+ years I've been driving for a living. That's 20+ years with contracted psoas muscles. Add to that the miles I pile up weekly, and I've unwelcome stress in my lumbar region. 

This weekend I began therapy to lengthen the psoas. Say a prayer 🤙🏽

You'll experience this day more often than not. That day when none of your plans come to fruition. 

Sounds cheesy, but the only failure you'll experience that day is putting your head so far up your ass you can't embrace what went wrong.  Spend some time in thought. Reflect on it 🤙🏽
