Another successful Next Wave Performance All Skills Clinic is in the books. 🌊💙

My heart is full after spending two days with an incredible group of athletes at Brantley High School. It was truly an honor to be a small part of each player’s volleyball journey, helping build confidence, sharpening fundamentals, and celebrating the little breakthroughs that turn into big moments.

To the players, thank you for your energy, your coachability, and for trusting me with your growth. Keep chasing the next wave. 🌊

A special shoutout to Karlee, Adalina, Brooklyn, and Maggie. Your leadership never needed a title. You led by your effort, your attitude, and the way you lifted up the teammates around you. You asked questions, stayed engaged, encouraged others, and set the standard every drill. Great players make plays, but great leaders make everyone around them better. Keep carrying that with you because it’s something that will take you far beyond volleyball. 🤍

And to the Brantley High School Girls Volleyball staff, mahalo nui loa for your kindness, support, and genuine Southern hospitality. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, and I couldn’t have asked for better people to share this experience with. Thank you for opening your gym, investing in these athletes, and making this clinic such a memorable experience.

Quiet Eyes.

The game moves fast, but your vision doesn’t have to.

Instead of letting your whole body chase the ball, train your eyes to do the work. Lock in on the play, track the ball from contact, and stay visually disciplined. When your eyes stay quiet, your body can react with purpose instead of panic.

🎯 Watch the server.
🎯 Read the hitter.
🎯 Trust what you see.
🎯 Move because you read the play, not because you guessed.

Great defenders don’t just have quick feet. They have focused eyes.

Your voice is part of your skill set.

The best hitters don’t just hope the ball comes their way. They call for it with confidence. Every time you communicate, you’re telling your setter, “I trust myself to score and you can trust me.” 💥

When you demand the ball:

🤝 You build trust with your teammates.
🔥 You become an athlete who WANTS the moment, not one who waits for it.

Even if you don’t get every set, keep talking. Great communication creates great connections, and confident teams are loud teams.

✅ No jump is too big or too small. Your jump should help you create consistent contact, not chase height.

👣 Toss the ball forward to create space for your footwork.

💥 Lift through the ball, contact it solid in the middle, and freeze your finish to the zone you’re attacking.

⚡️ The faster your shoulder rotation, the more power you’ll generate. Power isn’t about muscling the ball. It’s about efficient movement.

Communication 🗣️. Being vocal early allows the entire defense to move as one unit, close seams, and take away angles before the ball is even swung.

Your value on the court goes far beyond your volleyball skills. 🌊

Yes, we train our platform, footwork, and technique. But the athletes who truly elevate a team are the ones who bring energy, encouragement, and leadership every single rep.

Coach Ku’ulei reminds our athletes to “check in mentally” with their teammates. A simple word of encouragement, a high five, or constructive feedback can completely change someone’s confidence and performance.

The best players don’t just make plays. They make the people around them better.

Add value. Be vocal. Lift others up. That’s how great athletes are built. 🤙🏽💙

This is how we turn movement into momentum and momentum into kills 🎯.

At our College Camp, Coach Kaleinani (former D1 athlete & Hilo High School Head Coach) broke down one of her favorite attacking drills: Flamingo Hitting.

Why do we use it? 🦩🏐

Flamingos isolate the last two steps of the approach, teaching you how to get your feet to the ball quickly, load efficiently, and explode into your attack. The drill helps you feel how momentum transfers through your body, creating a stronger, more powerful attack.

Power doesn’t come from your arm alone.

It starts with your feet. Then your hips. Then your core. Then your arm.

When you learn to open up and torque through contact, you create a SLEDGEHAMMER 🔨that generates power while maintaining control. The goal isn’t just to swing harder… it’s to use your entire body to attack with purpose.

Quick feet. Strong load. Explosive swing. 💥

🌊 IT TAKES A VILLAGE 🏐

On May 25th, we had the opportunity to host Next Wave Performance, and one thing stood out above everything else: it truly takes a village. ❤️

Volleyball is about so much more than passing, setting, hitting, and serving. It’s about developing young athletes into confident leaders 💪, resilient competitors 🔥, and thoughtful decision-makers 🧠. Every drill, conversation, correction, and word of encouragement is an opportunity to teach not just the game, but a way of thinking that helps players grow from simply being players into becoming ATHLETES. 🏆

The impact made that day was possible because coaches 👏, parents ❤️, organizations 🤝, and athletes 🏐 all came together with the same purpose: investing in the next generation.

A huge thank you to Stack Society Volleyball 🙌 for partnering with us and helping create an experience that went beyond the court. Together, we were able to make a positive impact on the volleyball community 🌎 and provide athletes with tools they can carry with them long after the final whistle.

Growth happens when people come together 🤝, share knowledge 📚, and pour into others ❤️. We’re excited to continue building, teaching, and creating opportunities for athletes to reach their full potential 🚀.
